Hi Nina - there was a mylotter who mentioned it a few months ago - I think it was taztheone if I remember right. He said the cell phone broke into flames in the middle of the night on the bed. While so, I still think keeping it near by is better than keeping it another room because by the time flames catch up in the other room, it might be too late. At least if it happens nearby - you can get some smell and might be lucky enough to prevent it in time.

Yes, it is absolutely possible that people are killed by a mobile phone. When using a mobile phone to communicate with others, you must have out you into a dangerous situation. You see, if you don't have a quality battery in your phone, then this battery may lead to some serious problems, such as explosion. Usually, if this battery is very close to people's head, then he/she may be killed indeed. Yes, for the fake batteries in the market, many deaths occurs due to such explosion in China, which is a common situation in my country.

hummm.. thats is not very good. they are killing people on will. if they do like this no one is going to use mobile phone and their own family members can die too. that is just like playing with the lives of the people in the china?

Must be a bad battery. It's a rare incident, it's incredible that he was killed, I guess he kept that mobile near his head when that happened and maybe he was charging his mobile. Some people don't follow the instructions, they overcharge the battery,or even leave the charger in the socket and fall asleep.Sometimes it's the fault of manufacturer.

There was once a report here about a new charger, if I can still remember, which exploded when in use by the owner soon after purchase. That was just an isolated incident. But it rekindled the continuous demand for the highest safety standards in production. This should raise another alarm.

I think I have read it somewhere that a person was injured when he was charging his mobile phone. The phone just exploded while it was charging. Luckily that person was a distant away from his mobile otherwise it could have also killed him.

Hi Nina! There's always been rumors floating around the web about the risks of cell phones. While there is some risk (isn't there risk with almost everything?), it's relatively small in comparison with how many people use it. Here's an information-only article I found about it: http://www.snopes.com/horrors/techno/cellcharge.asp There's another rumor going around about using cell phones at gasoline stations. That's not true either. http://www.snopes.com/autos/hazards/gasvapor.asp Take care!

Nina Similar accident happened in my place around a year ago, it was due to defective Nokia battery, next Nokia administration announed in papers serial number of battery, that were supposed to be faulty, they asked to sms your battery number, if you want to know if it was defective, they replaced them to save their goodwill.. Thanks for sharing. Welcome always. Cheers. Professor

I don't believe this news. I already read many spam mails and chain mails about that incident. Unless you put a C4 in the mobile phone it is not possible to create an explosion strong enough to kill someone. Many research have already been done to disprove this.
