Alcohol addiction causes money problems

My mother is sick and need an operation. The problem is we do not have money anymore. My father grow big in debt this past few months because of his addiction to alcohol. He spends so much buying drinks and treating his friends. He also renovated the house so in turn he has no savings. My savings was already spent on the hospital bills. I regret the amount of money my father looses everyday because of his alcohol addiction. If only he had invested it in business or save it, then we will not worry that much. How do you cope up in this kind of situation?
