I was saddened upon hearing the news just a while ago on the untimely death of beauty queen Melody Gersbach in a vehicular accident. She won the Miss Philippines-International just last year and was one of the semi-finalists in Miss International in Tokyo, Japan last year. Road accident is prone to Philippine vehicles, so many cases unsolved but I am wondering why these things happened over and over again, why motorists are not careful? The bus driver said he lost the brake, is this couldn't be checked before leaving in order to avoid accident? Melody is too young to lost her life in this accident just because someone had not checked properly the brake.

Yeah, the story was released with an August 22 date attached online. The buses here quite often are under-maintained, as are the Jeepneys, but the speeds and hazards encountered are quite different. The timetables seem to encourage/force some drivers to "race" on the roads but there are likely more reasons than I have stated and I have not read any details on this tragic occurrence. Best wishes to all the surviving members of all involved. Eric

Sorry to hear your loss. May Melody Gersbach rest in peace. Hope there is a lesson to be learnt from this by all car owners or even car manufacturers.

Thanks for your response. Yes, I hope bus operators should strictly imposed discipline to their drivers especially in luzon, because I noticed that there are so many road accidents in Luzon compared to other Philippine region/islands.

Hi, jlamela. I am so sorry to hear about this. It is a shame that she lost her life because of something that could have been checked upon before traveling. I know that her family and loved ones are devastated over something like this. Many people are losing their lives to road accidents. It is just so sad that what we ride in can kill us.

The bus driver I think lost control of the bus he was driving and slammed on Melody's car. hahaaay that could be prevented if he only aware with his responsibility on the lives of the people.

it seems that buses should one day be installed with airbags if not more seat belts due to the fact that it is difficult to survive when the bus suffered a mishap. i just wonder why no one is trying to create one. seat belts may be distracting to the eyes but it can save lives.

I think the small cars are really not safe and it should be added some precautions like putting airbags and more walling to make passengers more safe. These small cars if suffered a mishap with big trucks like buses and wheelers they easily crumpled and most likely all passengers are impossible to survive.

That's really really sad. That's the problem of some bus companies. They are really lacking on maintenance and they are always over-speeding. That bus company should be closed! My deepest condolences to the family of Melody Gersbach. Thank you for giving honor to our country. May you rest in peace.

Yes, that's what I've noticed too, buses in the Philippines love to race on the road as if they are no passengers to worry. It's so sad that there are people who will take the consequences because of some drivers' abusive behaviors. May she rest in peace now.

It's definitely true. We cannot ask God why it's happening. All we can do now is pray for a peaceful rest and may her family would later on fully accept the accident because it was so traumatic.

It is really a big disappointment... such accidents and lives spared if people on the road would just be careful... i think this could have been avoided...

yes! the whole Philippine caught their attention upon hearing the sad news. She's really a LOST. I pity her, she's too young to die, i know she has lots of plans, for her career , for her family, and for her love life. We really cannot asked God,why God let this happen to her? why not the bad people suffer this. i know also that the family will not easily accept this kind of fate. May her soul, and her companion soul find everlasting peace.

Yes, she is very young, she could have accomplish many things in life if not for this road accident, it was very tragic, her car looked like a crumpled box. Yes, I do agree with you, we have no right to ask God why because it is a human error. May Melody's soul will now rest in peace.
