I am not really working like at a job. I am taking care of my son and it's a 24/7 job. I was thinking this morning how I would so enjoy a day off! Even a few hours would be great! I was thinking how when we work out at a job, job we get days off. So I am now working on almost 8 weeks with no days off... I was wondering how many days I ever worked out at a job before taking a day off... what's the longest time you worked like days in a row until taking a day off???

I'm going on about 4 years now, lol. That was the last time I had a day away from the kids.. I went to Ottawa for a weekend by myself, though I was pregnant so in a way I was still taking care of a child, lol. I really don't even get time off when hubby is home because he seems to block out most of the things they do so I still have to tell him when to yell at them and when to punish them, and when the punishments aren't good enough for what they did, etc etc. Then as far as housework, well he just makes it worse on me.
You could say I get a break when he and I go out without the kids.. which happens once or twice a year.. but the last time we left them with a sitter I came home to find that the little one had gotten into the toothpaste and it was all over my house and all over the kid.. nobody had bothered to clean it... so really going out creates more work for me too.
The youngest is 2, so I've only got another 16 years before I might be able to get a day off.. that's if I'm lucky.

I hear ya on that! I will get that one day. Before my son's accident I was working three jobs and hardly had time to turn around! I miss that though!

Not my last job, but the job before it, I was working two weeks sometimes without a day off. That was horrid for me, I just didn't like it at all. The work I did, I was always on my feet, I hardly got sleep because of the long hours, and when I was at home (I was living with my grandparents then) I couldn't sleep well either because of the noise and seeing as my room was also where the computer is, you could imagine people coming in and out at all hours of the night.
I met hubby and quit that job quick!
Hmm, before that I'd say I'd work four days and then get two days off, it all just depended.
My husband works only four days a week usually, unless he goes in to help.

My longest would be 14days straight. The company is testing something new so we can't have a day off. We are in shifting schedules though. Longest time I was awake, 30 hours. I counted it.lol

lol! That'll do it! I think I've been up that long but it's been a long time! Of course I only sleep two hours at a time right now since my son has to be turned throughout the night!

I worked for 6 days in a row and I wasnt really happy about it. And during those times, it felt like time is really slow and I always wanted the day to end fast but it doesnt. I was a school teacher at that time and my boss required us to work until late at night. Good thing I dont have that job now.

Yes, we all need time away from work. Even parents so i hope you get yours soon. I remember a period of my life where i was working, taking classes, and doing an internship at a seniors program and i went 80 days without a day off. I don't think i will ever have the energy to do that again. Also, of course as a parent i remember sharing the first six months of my daughters life with her mother. Young as that baby was we were both exhausted by the time we were able to rest. Gave me a healthy respect for those people that do it alone.

I recently worked 3 months straight with no day off...I was working at my normal job, and I was also working on a side job for someone. I would work at my normal job six days per week, and I was also leaving my normal job and going to work at the side job every day as well. I worked at the side job seven days per week until I got it done. Needless to say, I was tired when I got done with this three month period...

Maybe I will have a day off after my son can properly learn to talk. I can't leave him alone yet with anybody because it's hard to understand him because he can't talk yet. I am working on his speech and hopefully things will be fine in the coming months. I really miss going out alone.
