lately all of our yards here in town have dragonflies swarming all over the place. Does anyone know why? Is it because of the very wet summer we have had here in middle of Iowa. With all the rain/

They said that's why with all the rains we've gotten here in WI the mosquito population has boomed and therefore so has the dragonflies population who feed mainly on mosquitoes. I'd prefer more dragonflies to the mosquitos that eat you alive if you are outside more than 5 minutes.

well that's cool...because there are very few mosquitos here anyhow. There is a local bat population that lives in the old schoolhouse and I think they pretty well take care of the mosquitoes also. So not there really will be no mosquitos, that is nice to know! I wonder too if they dragonflies aren't eating all the tiny little gnats, there used to be lots and lots of gnats and now there don't seem to be any at all.
Strange how so much of life in interdependent upon other life, isn't it?
