What did you think of this fight? Was the outcome a surprise or not?
I actually was surprised by the outcome. I thought Carwin was going to win in the first round in devastating fashion. It looked that way for a moment. He quickly caught Brock in the first round and dropped him. Then he swarmed all over him trying to finish quickly. I think this is where Shane made his mistake. I think he burned himself trying to finish Brock, and paid for it by Round 2. Heavyweights seem to have the most problems when it comes to gassing.
You have to give credit to Brock for weathering the early storm, and the ref for not jumping in and stopping it prematurely. Round 2 came, and Brock was able to get it to the ground. One thing about Brock is that he may be the deadliest heavyweight to contend with on the ground. Shane had nothing for Brock, and was eventually forced to tap after being caught in an Arm Triangle. After being out with that illness, I wondered if Brock still had it in him. He proved to the world that night that he was a true champion. He also seemed to mature as a sportsman that night. I'm not sure what changed him, but he was gracious, didn't talk any smack afterwords, and just had a different look about him.
Shane seemed like the one person that could actually beat Brock. Now that that hasn't happened are there any Heavyweights out there that have a chance against Brock?
