Hi guys,
I was just wondering as Medical doctors do you find it easy to get a job abroad? If things dont work out for me here I might just have to return back to the Philippines and do medicine there. My only concern is will i be able to leave the country, whether its as a Jr doctor who has not completed residency or as a well established doctor.
Thanks

I once heard it's not what you know but who you know that get you places, Getting job these days aren't easy since most employers want experience more than anything, getting it abroad isn't helping your cause either.
If you want to work in USA and canada, you have to do USMLE,its quite hard but if you pass it, you are almost guaranteed to work in the states and further your career. USMLE has 3 steps, Step 1: basic sciences. Step 2: clinical skills and step 3: certification to work in the states. It takes over 10 years to complete those exams but if you already been a doctor in your country, may be you can do it over 2 year period. UK exams are harder and Jobs are not so available these days with the job cuts for foreigners outside EU zone.
Try Australia, they want personnel in some states and their exams is easy too, but be warned, payroll department is not generous and the place you may work have more animals than human beings. Hope that information helped.

It's also important you have large network of friends who are doctors who may recommend you to start working in their countries, they will alert you once jobs arise.

Thanks! I was just curious because there are several options that I am weighting out if this country does not work for me. Atleast if I can gain a degree anywhere thats not the philippines I could get work elsewhere and pursue med from there.
Thanks again
