Why is it that daughter's in law and mother's in law usually don't get along wel

I just watch a movie wherein the daughter in law is having a had time pleasing her mother in law. The mother in law in return, although does not intentionally want to make her daughter in law's life miserable but she cannot help it. I believe this is quite common as my brother's wife and my sister's husband is also having the same problem. Now wondering whether I will have the same problem.
