Yes, that is true. I find it funny, why would people do that. Is it really that enjoyable to listen to music while having a bath ?
Can you really concentrate on the song while bathing?
What do you have to say for this?
Do you do the same? Lol.
I can't help but laugh when i hear someone playing a song on their mobile phone while having a bath. Takes place in my hostel...
Would you want to try it yourself one day?

Hello Saphrina,
The problem is that we live in a hostel and we have bathrooms, like common bathrooms, so they are not attached with our rooms. I would sure like to listen to my music player if i was at home, but here some of the guys carry their cell phone for listening to music, i find that amusing.
Having a relaxing bath, listening to relaxing music sounds just great Saphrina.

Well for me no I don't listen to music while I am taking my bath, but my mom used to do that because she said that it relaxed her and all that. Well she used too, but now she doesn't and I don't know why I think it's just because when ever she did that she would take longer in the shower and that was no good because then we would all be waiting for our turns so my dad told her that she shouldn't do that anymore because she takes to long. Oh well.
Maybe one day I will try it for myself, but that's when I have my own place because I think that it will help me relax and make me not so scared while I am taking my shower. When ever I take a shower I keep one eye open because I am scared. LOL I watched to many scary movies I guess this is the outcome that I have to suffer with now.I dread taking showers now, but I still do every day because it feels uncomfortable just to go one day with out a shower because then I will feel dirty and very uncomfortable.
Not a good feeling at all. Anyway I think that listening to music while you are in the shower is not a bad idea. I mean it is relaxing, but I won't do it right now because I think that the same thing that happened to my mom will happen to me and then I will be in the shower hogging it all to myself. My family would call me the shower hogger and they say if you listen closely you will here music playing,LOL I am so werid. Happy mylotting everybody and have a nice day, ANIME123 i s out.

Hello ANIME123, where are you going ?
That was funny, LOL. Watching too many scary movies would make you imagine a lot more so you better not be watching such movies too much. Keeping an eye open while having a bath sounds so funny! I know what you mean. There was one scary movie i had seen and it really has some nasty bathrooms scenes. I don't want to elaborate them for here, he he. I imagine weird things myself, not much while taking a shower but at night when i am sleeping. It is not good to watch so many of those horror movies. I used to watch many of them when i was much younger and i know how it affects one. I am very imaginative when it comes to thinking about ghosts and stuffs. And when i walk in the dark alone, i imagine many more things that sometimes make me feel uncomfortable too. But i still like to watch such movies. Listening to music while having a shower will take your mind off such things and i am sure you would like it too. Yeah, better if you have a leisurely bath when you have your own house. In the day time we are queued up for the bathroom, you can certainly have a nice relaxing bath in the afternoon too. Two times a day would be really refreshing.

So coincidental, I was just talking about horror movies and you mentioned it here....I didn't think of having baths alone in the bathroom after a horror movie...
anime, maybe your mum has a quota to finish in the showers? juz kidding....
well, it's a good idea to listen to music to take our minds off the horrifying thoughts we have....

When I read your question, the first thing I thought about is a hot bubble bath with dim lights or a candle lit up with Me laying back in the tub relaxing with some soft relaxing gospel music playing to help calm my mind and body.
I regularly have aches and pain in various areas of my body throughout the day and not to mention a brain that jump through hoops all day long, and I don't go to bed until 1-2am because I have so much work to do online, and I didn't mention keeping up with my two year old all day (except when she's sleep for a 2 hour nap.)
So yes! A gal needs some bubble bath music love sometimes to release the strains of life, but still enjoy the beauty and fun of it.

How innocent can you get? If I am singing in bathroom, I cant really be singing that well, can I? I mean who would know I am the one who is singing - that too with the sound of water tap muffling my bad notes? he he. But I guess, I can sing in mumbai locals - at the end of the day, I will have enough for dinner, next day's fare, and breakfast may be? he he.

Hello voldrox :) Fun discussion you started here. People really have weird habits when they think no one is watching and i believe that is their most natural and honest state possible, when they have the courage to do what they feel (that and getting drunk, of course :)))
I rarely listen to music when i take a shower because i like sitting in the shower, hearing nothing but my own thoughts and the water running. It relaxes me a lot and helps me focus better the following hours. You can call it day dreaming if you like And actually, some of my best project ideas came to me while i was in the shower :D
Happy myloting!

Hello Reyachan,
That is funny, to get ideas while you are under the shower. Sounds quite funny, but if you are able to concentrate so much then it's good for you. I find listening to music while bathing quite interesting. If we have a bath tub then things are different but underneath a shower, we will have to concentrate more on listening because naturally the sound of the shower would make it harder for us to be able to enjoy the song nicely. Anyways, yeah it is a little weird, but not too weird for me not to try, lol.
Anyways Reyachan... Is it you in that avatar??

Hello again, Voldrox :) Yeah i guess it is kind of funny if you think about it, but usually when you relax you can think more clearly and i guess that's the way the "mystery" can be explained. You're right, listening to music while sitting in a bathtub can be fun, though i seldom have the time to enjoy a warm bath so I resume to showers :D
But have you ever listened to music under water? :) That sensation is amazing! You can hear the music much clearer and you literally feel it all around you. I went to a resort last year where they had a pool with under water music and i just loved it!
As for my avatar....yes, it's me :P
Happy posting!

Hi voldrox,
I guess many people like to do that, that is called "multi-tasking", doing two things at one time
For me, I prefer to do the singing myself, bathrooms have the echo effect, so it makes my singing much nicer than it is supposed to be hee hee . It also provides benefits when I do that,
"Likewise, when those who enjoy a hot bath inhale the air of the bath, so that the heat of the air enters their spirits and makes them hot, they are found to experience joy. It often happens that they start singing, as singing has its origin in gladness." -- Ibn Khaldun
So, I'm increasing my own happiness by doing that. So probably those who listen to songs will also sing along, and become happier in the process.

Hi bluemoonpavilion,
Nicely said. I think i am not really that good with multi-tasking he he. But yes it is easier to sing while having a bath. Echo is a nice concept probably you could pretend it was some sort of sound effect from the mice, lol. It is an exciting way to refresh yourself.! Listening to songs while bathing and singing along with them like karaoke should be fun! :D

I tend to listen to songs in my head all the time, and when bathing or relaxing they are constantly going through my mind. I think I have a song that I associate with every occasion in my life. Maybe it's something to do with the fact that I am a trained musician and have played the piano since I've been about 6 years old. I like listening to music also. I always have some playing around the house somewhere and before I set off on a journey I put the car radio on. No, I dont' take music into my bathroom on mobile phone or anyting else. Do need to with all that music going on in my head! _Derek

Hi Derek_a,
Interesting to hear you are a trained musician and have been playing the Piano from the time you were just 6 years old. I wish i was trained too, but i learned to play drums all by myself, and with some sources on the net too, of course. I have a passion for playing drums and i started understanding it when i was about 17 years of age. I never started playing drums on the actual set. I used to listen, watch and observe and used to try to mock them over on the table and with my feet. I slowly tried to make my hands and legs independent in their functioning and that sure needs a lot of practice. No wonder why friends when sit on a drumset ask me how did you get started in the first place! LOL. It's understandably hard to move around playing with your hands and feet the very first time but if one has passion for it then it doesn't really take a long time. Everything is hard to play at the beginning but then it starts to become fun as we move on to the next level. Piano is a great instrument. Wish i had someone playing that in my band. Well, but for the size and inconvenience the keyboard players have their own reasons, apart from that they require good maintenance and can be a mess carrying them to the stage for giving small competitions and shows. I like the Piano! My grandfather and great grandfather both were music composers and used to compose gospel songs for the church, i admire them for that. :) My father's generation got a little different and they focussed more on their career for finding a more stable job and i don't mind that. Not like my father's generation did nothing related to music but now i am playing drums and my brother plays the guitar and we are quite an interesting duo in our college, LOL. Anyways, that was my story. :)
I would enjoy music in my car too. I too listen to music almost whole day. But i will have to try doing that while i am going for bath, not with my mobile phone or anything of that sort though, Lol.
:)

I used to listen to music while I bathed when I was younger. Now, I take my shower early and I don't want to wake people up. I listened to music because it gave me something to do. I love to sing and I could sing to the songs while bathing. It is kind of boring having nothing to watch or listen to while bathing. Music just makes it a little more fun.

Hello hmkoct,
I agree, sometimes bathing becomes boring if we want to have a nice relaxing long bath and i guess music should add a nice taste to it. Although in the mornings we don't have much time to listen to music while bathing but we could do it after the day is done with.

I usually listen to the radio when I am in the shower. The station I listen to has a lot of comedy bits along with the music. I can't always hear what they are saying if the water is on, but when it is not, I can hear quite well. I know they sell radios that you can take in the shower with you, but I don't have one and don't know if they would work above the water anyway.

Hello cerebellum,
Yes they have water proof radios for that purpose and it seems some of the people who have responded here have used it once. I find it interesting, i would rather like to listen to songs than listening to a funny conversation going over the radio.

I'd love to try that someday. lol.. But I can't since I don't have the luxury of taking a bath for more than a few minutes because I take care of my three kids and they're still quite small and I constantly have to check up on them. I only take longer during the night but I can't play any music then because they'd be fast asleep. As for the music, I don't think it's a good idea anyway to use a phone as it could get wet in the shower, but I heard there were radios that you can hang in the shower, and they're waterproof. That would be pretty cool.

Hi akiadranem,
For using the cell phone inside the bathroom, we will need to take care and also the volume might not be as high as we wanted because the sound of the shower would dampen it a little bit. Yes, we do have some of those cool water proof radios. Oreocookie, the one who response is first to this discussion had such a radio and it is from her that i came to know of such a thing. Anyways, its cool! Thanks for sharing.

Actually yea I was doing this just yesterday..
I don't do much in the bath though so I can concentrate on my music. Usually if I'm having a bath it's because I'm deep conditioning my hair. I wash myself in the shower, so whenever I end up having a bath I'm just sitting there staring at the wall, I need music.

That is funny for3verfamous, deep conditioning your hair while listening to music. Rather than concentrating on the music i guess you should also think about the time you are spending taking bath. In the morning we usually don't have the time for that much of a leisurely bath. Maybe listening to music and staring at the mirror would make you feel more attractive, he he..

Bath's in the morning?? Ah, that's not my kinda thing. I'm more of an evening bather.
Maybe it would.. not if my hair is dry and brittle though. I need that conditioner

I’ve tried it many times LOL…I really like it. As it is I feel music helps to relieve the boredom of our day to day chores, so having a radio on or some good music on the CD is a good idea for me. I dislike music when working or studying or reading something as it takes my mind off…
However, listening to music while bathing is definitely enjoyable. As it is bathing does not required undivided attention yet it can be quite boring as we are doing the same thing every day. And then, many of us are bathroom singers who love humming along… so having the music on and humming to it is a good way of cheering up the bathing routine.

Hi sudiptacallingu,
It sounds interesting! I will have to try that out myself one day. Yes bathing does not require undivided attention, lol. The only problem here is if we are having a shower then we might not be able to listen to the music clearly. In a bathing tub, the whole story is a little different. I could fancy watch some Tv while on the bath tub if i have time for a leisurely bath, but unfortunately i can't, probably later. Yes, many like singing or humming while bathing and background music should do great with that.

Hi undnisak,
Listening to music on the earphones is quite dangerous and also listening to music loud in the speakers. However bathing has nothing dangerous lol, but on the otherside, it can be smooth and relaxing to listen to music while having a bath. Many of us love to listen to music most of the day, it is one of the things that keeps us running! Happy mylotting!

It isn't absolutely a necessity to listen to songs while bathing. it can be relaxing to do so. I enjoy enjoy listening to som of my favorite songs while i am bathing. It can leave me feeling more tranquiled or energized, depending on my choice of music.

I sing when bathing but not to the extent of having an earphone stuck in my ear. It's OK i guess if you have separate speaker you can place where it's not going to get wet. A lot of people sing when taking a bath and there's no problem with it when you you sing along while taking bath.

I feel that there is no time where listening to music would be wrong. There are times where I listen to music when I am taking a bath or whatever. Well listening in the loosest sense of the world. There might be a radio on in the next room, where I can kind of hear what is going on. I might be listening to the music that is playing on it, I might not, but it is on.
I guess it really helps with the conentration in anything. Perhaps the rhythem of the music relaxes us enough and allows us to bathe in an efficient manner. I guess it is something like that. Then again, there are a lot of times where I listen to music, but am not listening to it really. It is on but hey, music helps me focus in most of other things in life. However, why not have it on when I was bathing.

Hello megamatt,
So that works out quite well for you, nice. When i listen to music, it takes my attention away. I am not able to concentrate on other things, except surfing the web and a few other minor things, but i am not able to study and do other things that require more focusing.
