I live in Hong Kong for 3 years and I learned English there. I also had to take French because my school is based from Canada. I do wish I studay French like I should have. I only speak English and Japanese. It would be nice if I can learn French again.

I am fluent in Spanish. I have never tried French. I am a firm believer that it is easier to learn if you have people to practice with. Here in NC it is easier to learn Spanish because there are a lot of Spanish speaking people. I took 3 years of Spanish, but only became fluent after having so many move into my community and speaking with me in Spanish.

I'm taking spanish II this semester. (I'm far from being fluent but that takes a long time to achieve if that's what you're ultimately going for.) Anyway, my professor teaches both Spanish and French. Even though they're both romance languages, she says that Spanish is actually easier because there are less pronunciation rules to remember as opposed to French.
