Kumara Dharmasena - The 'Steve Buckner' of Sri Lanka?

well Sri lankan board might bribe the match refree, it can happen. Once upon time Asad Rauf(Pakistan umpire) use to be very hopless umpire. But still ICC has taken him as International umpire. Now, today, he was the man who gave Yuvaraj Singh out. So, it is not only Dharmasena but there are lot of other umpires who are not doing umpiring with perfection. These mistakes do happen with any umpire that is why ICC should introduce technology in the game. ICC can now even should think of imposing ban or suspension on Umpires as well. This will make umpires stand on their toes and they will think twice before giving a bad decision.

I remember Rauf giving these biased decisions against India when we are playing against Pakistan. what I observe is that Dharmasena is somewhat nervous guy but his umpire career was with lot of mistakes and we feel that he is supporting Sri Lanka because he is from Sri Lanka but these bad decisions were given by many umpires like Steve Bucknor, Darl Harper (he gave Sachin LBW when Sachin was ducking down to low bouncer of Mc Grath), Rudi Kurson in South Africa. So, these local umpires do commit mistakes but ICC is helpless because the respective country will send these umpires names to ICC. So, these things do happen nothing can be done, Indian team creates revenue to many like Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Pakistan, no doubt but BCCI is more in making tournamnents and earning profits, do not care about these poor umpiring, they leave it to ICC to decide, what BCCI has done when Sachin was accused of ball tampering in South Africa, nothing, Sachin has to face humilitation. BCCI is keen in making money, nothing else. In India too there are umpires who are of the standard of Dharmasena. So, when a person is doing umpiring he should forget that he belongs to certain country. See that no bad decisions are given, once in a while ok but if these errors do happen every now and then that umpire must be banned.

I agree mate that Asad Rauf gives wrong decisions a lot but its not biased in favor of just one team.Dharamsena being home umpire and giving wrong decision in favor of home team makes it more controversial.Making mistake is human nature but favoring a team by umpire is totally different team and its unacceptable.about bribing if they will behave like they are in this tour just to win anyhow at home then they will lose good friend BCCI and Indian team touring Srilanka every year which is main source of income of Srilanka board, then they will not be left with any money to bribe.

Yes, you are "absolutely" correct!!! Remember when he was a third umpire in test match, how did he declare "Murali Vijay" out? No one could see even one action replay and he was declared out, can someone tell me how can a umpire make a mistake when he has all the latest technologies available in front of him and he can take his time? He is not making mistakes, he is making sure that when he comes to India, he can get some good greetings from Indian public...I am sure if BCCI does not look into this matter, Indian fans will do something to him

Oops their is a misunderstanding, something that you feel as a mistake is absolutely not. Mistake is something that you do once or twice and with everyone, how come, his decisions are good against his country and bad against India only? These repetitions prove that he is doing it purposefully, and please do not hope that ICC will take any action against it. Actually, people like Kumara are helping ICC motives to make sure that their will be less nominations from India team for next awards and that means, more nominations from England and Australia. BCCI should look into this matter and make sure that this immature guy is terminated from this post otherwise they should boycott srilanka as they did for Pakistan due to political issues.

That's right sami. There should be some rules on umpiring like the umpires should be from the countries other than the ones participating in the series.

Hello Crazy, The ICC should put neutral umpires for all the international matches.

Dharmsena is the worst umpire I even seen the world of cricket. All the teams and cricket board need to take a strong action against him and set some rules for such kind of wrong decisions.
