Which one is better intel quad core or phenom X4 processor.....??

I am planning to update my motherboard and processor of the system which would help me to add more graphics memory to the system. Currently i have Intel Pentium 4 processor and i am likely to update it with quad core processor.
Both Intel and AMD are providing quad core processor, i am confused which one to prefer. I dont have any experience with AMD processors but some people are suggesting me to prefer AMD over Intel. Both are almost of same price.
Which one is better, your views....??

By the way,which specific Intel or AMD quad processor your are referring.
Intel basic qaud core(core 2 quad series) are comparable to Phenom X4 9xx series.
But if you compare Intel's i7 quad series(i7-920 or above), then it give competition to AMD Phenom X6.
So, if you post specific Intel/AMD processor with your budget,then maybe i can help you deciding best processor along with good motherboard.

My budget for processor is upto 200 USD(10,000 rupees), for Intel basic model is Q8200 and for AMD 9650 X4 processor. Which one is better performance wise..??
i will appreciate if you'll suggest me some other models as well.......

Well for a Rs.10K budget, why dont you try Intel's latest i-series.
i5-750 will suit your budget and it perform better than both the models you've mentioned.
But i want to make sure that Intel i-series wont just fit into regular motherboards.
So, you have spend on Socket 1156 supporting motherboard.
So, if you are buying motherboard also and have extra budget for that, then prefer Intel i-5 over anything in that budget.
Whereas Q8200 will fit on Socket 775 motherboard.

By the way, you can take a look at i5-760 which is newly introduced in the market.Its better than i5-750.
i5-750: 2.6GHz, turbo boost to 3.2GHz.(price approx Rs.10K)
i5-760: 2.8Ghz, turbo boost to 3.2GHz.(price approx Rs.10K)
And if you want more performance than AMD 6-core, then buy Intel i7-920.
i7-920:2.66GHz (price approx Rs.12K).

It seem like your friend got some old price as i5's top rated processor i5-760(the fastest i5) cost Rs.10400/-. Not more than that. And as the OP has posted that his budget is Rs.10000 MAX, so he cant really afford a Rs.12-14K i7 processor.
So, for this budget,i5 is the best deal. But if the budget would be slightly flexible then, nothing can beat i7 (except Xeons
,though in this budget).

i think amd and intel processor quadri core are good both and so in many cases i should like mre intel technology but amd improved them so much and as regards these kind of high end processor the are good both...they are also really expensive...

Well both are quite hi-fi processors and thats why people got confuse to choose the best one. As far as i know about phenom x4 is much much better than intel if you need to buy it for gaming purpose but if you need it for normal or some other purpose than i would suggest you to buy intel quad core because it has more life than any other processor available.
Hope you will buy the best one.

for me i think the phenom x4 was better that the quad core because according my information phenom x4 have a Max. CPU clock rate 2.5 GHz to 3.5 GHz speed unlike the quad core have a Max. CPU clock rate 1.06 GHz to 3.33 GHz speed. happy mylotting and keep up a good work.
