Sometimes miracles happen in front of our noses.

Today, a nice day for me in many other ways, I saw a miracle happen. I am agnostic, yet I can´t call it any other way. Seventeen days ago, 33 miners were trapped in a mine in my country. Everything was tried and every day it was less possible to find them alive. In spite of it being imposible, the miner´s families camped near the mine and never gave up hope. A few days ago, a better machine was lent to my country to continue the rescue. This evening the probe reached down 2,257 feet (688 meters) deep into the mine. The miners were alive. It will take months to rescue them and bring them out but now they can send food, water and medicines. I am overjoyed. I had guests for lunch and we were glued all evening to the TV looking at this unexplainable wonder. Cehck more if you are interested: Read more: http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/n/a/2010/08/22/international/i123447D99.DTL#ixzz0xP18oyRM Have you witnesed or been close to something like this? How did you feel?

Hiya marguicha, Saw this this very morning as that kind of News is always delayed I am amazed at how they managed to survive and the tenacity of the Miners to send some kind of message which ever way they could. Hope that they can rescue them soon so that they can see the Daylight again they deserve it they really do. Maybe other Rescue Teams might join in from abroad and they can be freed sooner. Hope so. What a wonderful Story miracles do happen anywhere everywhere.

Hi friend, A big machine was lent from another country. We have well trained rescue teams. Some of them are speciallized in mines as we have big copper mines in our country. Besides that, we also have good military rescue teams but it seems that the others know best. That probing machine made a change though.

This is when I ask my friends who have faith to pray. I just can´t visualise months of being buried alive.

Hiya marguicha, Those Miners must be going through Hell down there. I just wish there was a quicker way to get them out. I have seen those Copper mines on the Television before and they seemed to be quite a risk some of them. Well I suppose like everything else. Those special teams know best because of the kind of earth and underground structures they have to know all about it. I have no doubt they will be out sooner than what they think. Here´s hoping to that.

Thanks Jo. You are always the one to bring here messages of hope. Now it´s my turn. Yesterday´s news were so moving! I do hope they hurry although yesterday we were watching the news with my friend with whom I went to Arica and with my fav cousin and he is an engineer and explained why the rescue had to beso slow. But miners know that and they will have psychological support as from now.

That is a really fantastic and inspiring story, although it is nowhere near an end yet. I am so happy for those miners and their families, and I hope that the contact that they will now be able to have with their families will be enough to get them through the coming months. I had already thought about the psychological trauma that those men would be going through, and the news article addressed that as well. It did say that now there will be professionals able to contact them and help them through that during the next few months, so that is great. Also, it said that hopefully they will be able to get the men out around Christmas, so what a fantastic Christmas that will be for all of those families!

I know that there´s a long way to go yet, purple. I don´t think that many peopel could go through all that. But yesterday we were watching TV with the friend I went to Arica with and my favorite cousin who is an engineer and has worked in mining. He said that these men were tough and knew how to survive in extreme situations. I hope so. There is a team of psychologists there but the first thing is to send them drink and food. The psychologist also said that it was very important that they had news of the outside at the same time every day. I hadn´t thought that might be important but it sounds reasonable.

Yes, these men are obviously extremely tough and know how to survive in extreme situations. Many people would probably have panicked, and they would never have survived for so long without food and water. Instead of doing that, these men had the presence of mind to find water themselves, which is most likely one of the biggest reasons that they are all still alive. Also, they must work together well, which is another key factor in survival. Being buried in the mine, these men have most likely lost all sense of time. Having news of the outside world at the same time every day will not only give them something to look forward to by staying connected with their loved ones and keeping them in a positive frame of mind but also help them to keep some semblance of normalcy and put the passing of time in perspective.

That is a wonderful story. I think we don't need such kind of story to believe about Miracles. I think that being healthy, and waking up everyday is a great miracle. We don't need much news like that. so be grateful and live according to God's will.

Unfortunatly we tend to take our own life as granted instead of standing in awe at the wonder of it. And we do all we can to mess it up. These things make you think about other things that go beyond the story itself.

That is such a positive story. Thank you for sharing that on here. I am so happy for them and their families. The families showed such strength in not giving up on their loved ones. This is the second story that has left me with a happy feeling today on a day when I was feeling a little down in the dumps.

I still have to ask all my friends with faith to pray hard. It will take months to get them out. I feel that these things teach us lessons: we must not despair.

This is truly a miracle. When miners are trapped it usually ends up bad. This is very good. Hopefully, they all get out safe and it dosen't take as long as predicted. God Bless the miners and their families.

Oh!! God really is great! He has taken well cared of them while trapped there... and they are alive! Thank you for sharing this story. I haven't got so much miracle in my life... but i believe i always believe that miracles do happen, if we only believe and if we really stick with our hopes... we are always in for a very good surprise. :D I am happy that your fellow country men trapped in their have high chances of survival.. its a step towards pulling them out now... you are right... it may take some time but at least we know they are safe in their and people can help them get through this...

They now know that they are not alone and that things are done to take them out. That is so important all the time. I do wish we would think of that more every day of our lives.

And just this past week a plane landed in pieces, and only one was killed. A year or so ago a plane landed in a river and no one was killed (I don't remember even injuries, but if there were they were relatively minor.) What about our own existence? Every female discards an egg approximately once a month (some 28 days or so?) and every shot of the male has over a million sperm? Just what are the odds that that particular egg and that particular sperm come together? Of course there is no way to know what it would have been like if our life started with a different egg, or a different sperm. We get what we get, and we survive accordingly. The concept of a god is not in the equation unless you decide to live your life that way. I think I'm agnostic as well, though some people have different definitions. I find it hard to believe in a supernatural entity, but I don't rule out some kind of energy that we don't fully understand yet. That is where I am at this present time, anyway.

Ihave beliefs such as yours. It´s not unbelief, it´s just thet I don´t find myself capable of understanding the trascendental. Some of us call it God, some others call it energy. But there seems to be a sort of orchestra director in this universe and maybe far beyond. Even the word universe seems a word tha we made to set limits to something that is bigger than what we can see.

It truly is a miracle! It is wonderful news that they managed to find these men alive and, although it will take so long to get them out, they can at least be fed and talk to their families. I’m sure being stuck down there will be a lot more bearable with the knowledge that there others working so hard to get them out. We had some miners trapped in 2006 for two weeks, two of them were rescued but sadly one passed away. Here is the link to the news story. I remember watching the two men walk out with tears in my eyes! http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/asia-pacific/4752427.stm

oh, you were reviewing the incident at Chile? Yeah, those miners were lucky to be trapped in months, and they still come out all right. It was truly a miracle incident. I hope that none of that would happen again.

I am chilean and we have all been waiting for news since this accident happened. I had given up hope to rescue them alive many days ago. This has also made me reconsider when and if we must give up. Take care!
