Nope, its not really harmful to consume Aloe Vera. Aloe Vera is considered as a medicine in Indian Ayurvedic. So, its got benefits and is not harmful to consume unless you add chemicals to it. Consume it in its natural form to avoid any harmful effects and dont consume its much quantity. As excess of anything is harmful.

Oops, let me rephrase that: "Ahaha I agree, harpreet89's avatar is cool. Anyway, I do agree that anything in excess is harmful." I was chatting on my messenger and the word "his" slipped in here. Alright, it's off topic. I'm starting to like aloe vera plants.

I have never heard of any harmful effects, but I have heard of plenty of good effects. So I think any disadvantages would have come up by now, since aloe vera products are very popular and hyped at the moment...

That would be gross because it's like a gel.

Yeah, in groceries there are a lot to choose from. But I'd rather drink a natural one than a processed one because of the preservatives.

Why don't you just buy one and see the info in the bottle? then search the ingredients on the internet. But some things are more effective if you don't doubt things about it. It's like a placebo effect, you know.

At first, I thought Aloe vera is for cosmetic use only. But after I was educated about the health benefits if you take aloe vera internally, I started taking aloe vera. The effect is good, I seldom get ill and I really feel healthy and rejuvenated!

Me too, I thought it was only for the skin or hair. I was surprised that it's edible but of course a lot of herbal plants are. It was just so slimy so I was thinking whether it would taste good or not. Thanks for the reply.

Aloe Vera has been used for ages due to its healing properties and medicinal use. But every good thing has bad aspect and Aloe Vera is not exception. Although side effects in Aloe Vera is rare but there are some Aloe Vera side effects. Side effects of drinking Aloe Vera are minor and generally don't affect people. Major side effects of using Aloe Vera: 1) Sometimes inter use of aloe vera latex may turn urine red, can cause abdominal pain, and cramps the major reason of this is consuming products having anthraquinones as one of the ingredients. 2) Sometimes it is seen that some people show mild allergic reactions , developing itching or rash conditions. 3) Sometimes aloe vera juice contains small quantity of laxative compound in aloe latex due to improper processing. Latex shows laxative effects and overuse of latex can cause electrolyte imbalances. 4) Sometimes ale latex used by pregnant women cause uterine contractions and trigger miscarriage. 5) Ale latex is not recommended for person with irritable bowel syndrome, gastrointestinal illness, colitis, intestinal obstruction, diverticulitis, appendicitis, hemorrhoids, stomach pain or ulcers. 6) It's non recommendable for children's and elderly to consume aloe latex internally. It can cause potassium loss when used with corticosteroids. 7) People taking medication, oral steroids, digoxin, diuretics for arrhythmia should avoid aloe vera. 8) Sometimes it causes electrolyte loss. and sometimes it can delay healing of major wounds. Generally side effects of aloe vera are due to overdose orlong use of aloe vera products. But it knows fact that aloe vera side effect or side effects of drinking aloe vera are very minor. Being a herbal and natural extract it's obvious that side effects of aloe vera can not be seen with great effects.

In my country I also find several kinds of aloe vera juice. I tried some times.and it tastes good. I also use aloe vera gel mixed with essential oil, coconut oil, olive oil and almond oil for hair treatment. It really works and stop hair fall and dandruff and helps regrow new hair. I can also use it in burn treatment, and acne.

I think it is safe but since aloe vera is a laxative, I think too much of it would cause loose stool which may not be too comfortable for you. Just take or drink as recommended. Okay?
