Is thankfulness ingrained that deeply in our hearts?

thank you - thank you for everything

Remembering to say thanks, how many of us do it? I read an article about a theology professor during the last few years of his life lost all memory of his past. While remaining cordial to former university colleagues who come to visit, he has no idea that they had taught together and were close friends for many years. But despite his memory loss, he never forgot to say thanks to God. We have little control over what we may forget in our later years, but today we can remember to say thanks to the person we would like to express our gratitude in whatever language we can say. I'll take this opportunity to say thank you to the person who helps me putting things in perspective like for teaching me how to live again, muchas gracias and thanks God for we meet. I believe that a thankful person enjoys a blessing twice-- when it's received and when it's remembered. Do you believe too?

That is a really interesting concept. I think that it is very true that an expression of gratitude will be doubly appreciated because it will remain in our memories over the years. One of the things that gives us satisfaction is how people will help respond to our assistance. Many times a simple thank you goes a long way towards appreciation. And as you said, a second blessing when one thinks back on the deed.

I don't think it is. I think it comes from a learned environment for the most part. We are all individuals for sure but I think we have to be taught to take on such graciousness. Putting things in perspective comes to those who have the opportunity to think. Some of us don't do that very much! haha

When you say thank you, you are preparing to receive more from the person. Ungratefulness is negative attribute we must avoid like a plague.

I really beleive that when you thank you today, the person will be more than willing to do good to you next time.
