I want to know why is it that when a car accident happens there are several tow trucks waiting to tow a vehicle away even before the police and the ambulances arrive at the scene. I know there is competition and that but since when was money more important than lives?

I drive around a lot all the time, pretty much daily and I always see private tow truck companies parking their trucks near highway entrances, just waiting for accidents to happen, or calls to come in to them. They usually hang out near highways, I remember when I had a car accident, there were no tow trucks around, one had to be called in. But yes, for some of them money is more important, but quite often, the calls they respond to are just minor, and there were no lives in danger. It depends on the situation for the rest of them.

hello nobbsy my husband is a tow truck driver and it is not that way what happens is the police call the the tow truck to come and pick up the car to get it out of the way and to clear the site so that is wont cause more traffic and a crowd around what is going on so that they can do there job and help the people with out other people getting involved.

I thought that might be something peculiar to your country but it isn't. It's like the British motorways. A private tow truck always appears long before you have time to phone the Automobile Association (AA). They have a radar, I'm sure.
