I am getting two of these plants from a plant company that i belong to.I use to have a Venus Flytrap plant when i was younger and it was great.I think that the plant looks very colourful aswell as interesting to look at.My one sadly died after only a year,so lets hope that when these turn up that i have ordered will not die on me.

I had a small Venus Flytrap about two years ago. I had really wanted one for quite some time but unfortunately my mother ended up accidentally killing it not long after I got it. I would like to have another one but I've never gotten around to buying a second one.

I had one when i was a child,i loved it,but sadly i ended up either watering it too much or not giving it enough water.I hope that i will be able to keep these two that i have got alive for sometime to come.

Hey those are nice. I used to have one too and really dont' know what ever happened to it. I know they are good on mosquitos an flies. I wouldn't mind having one now. Take care with the directions. I think you can over water them.

I am not sure of the watering needs either but look that plant up on the internet and see about the water it needs. I would think they are quite an interest to kids too.

i had one of those when i was little,my brother and i used to like poking it with a pencil to watch it open and close,i was tempted to buy one the other week from a local garden centre, but i'm not sure i trust my son with it,he'll either try to keep putting things in it to make it close,or he'll ignore it and it'll die

I think you have to be very careful with those plants. They are a great fun novelty plant and often kids will play with them too much and then they can die from what I have heard. You have to just let it do it's thing by itself and not force it to open and close too much through human interaction.

I think that the chioldren will love to watch them aswell as they are very pretty plants.I know that they can die if they are over watered aswell as they can if they are under watered,so lets hope that i do not end up killing them as they were not cheap to buy.

I've never been lucky enough to have a Venus Flytrap, but after the summer that we've had with the little fruitflies all over the house, I sure would love to have one right about now. The thing is, I don't think that I would have any luck at all with keeping the alive would not be that great because I think when it comes to houseplants that I have a black thumb. In fact, when it all comes down to it, I think that I'm lucky to be able to keep my pets and children alive.

I did not haver any luck keeping the last plant alive,so lets hope this time i will not kill the ones i am now getting.I hate flies and there seem to be alot more this year for some reason.I am sure that my children will think that they are very interesting when they see them catch a fly.

seems incredible that such plants there are the famous carnivorous plants we see in movies, of course everything is much more exaggerated. I have seen in a television program, also in a documentary, they collaborate in the fight against insects, which often are pests and transmit many diseases.

My friend did say that they remind her off the triffids in the film, lol.I can not wait too see them eat a fly,i think that the children will love to watch the plant aswell as that it is rather rather pretty.

I think they are made to die so that you then buy more. It would be of no use to the growers if they lasted forever.

Remind her of triffids?? That's a good thing surely. I'd love to have a triffid I could beat into submission when it misbehaved....heheheheh. The Venus fly traps available here are tiny wee things. I would want one of those tubular ones that are quite big. I wonder where the "Venus" part of the name came from?

There are alot of plants that i have managed to kill over the years and they are the ones that are supposed to be hard to kill.I think that these are nice looking house plants and they eat any bugs that are in doors, but a friend of mine said that they remind her of the triffids,as in the film.

It's not easy to be looking after plants.. hehe ^_^ It needs to right amount of sunlight and water in order to grow well and healthy.. haha =D I'm one who's not fated to grow any plants because even a cactus can die on him, considering the hot weather in my country!! lol =D Since then, i have not tried my hands on any, and hopefully u plants will be healthier this time round!

When someone mentions Venus Flytraps I think about the movie "The Little Shop of Horrors" and that Venus Flytrap saying, "Feed me!" I hope you're able to keep these new plants longer than the first one. Possibly you have a better understanding of how to properly care for them more now than you did when you were younger.

I hope that i do not manage to kill these ones off as they cost alot of money.I think that there are alot of plants over the years that i have killed. If i get to see a few flies killed by these as that would be worth it.

I would love to get one of these plants. I am not much of a gardener though. Are they difficult to take care of?
@jugsjugs (12967)

They are indoor plants and they do say that they are easy to take care of,however when i was younger i did manage to kill my one off in a matter of a short space of time.

Venus flytrap? I didn't know people actually kept those plants in home. It is an insectivorous plant right? Had you seen it trapping insects when you had one? It must have been interesting. So does that plant help reduce the no. of weird insects that at times get into house? Maybe if you give it more insects to eat the new ones will survive?lol!

I think that there are alot of plants that you can get that are really pretty.I think that with it being summer and all the flies, they will have plenty to eat.My plant did not live that long the last time i had one to see it eat the flies. They are an indoor plant.

I've seen one before. And yes it looks interesting. And I've even waited sometime to see how it would 'eat' but to no avail. I'm just as curious now. Perhaps it's worth to record it.

I've not seen a Venus FlyTrap plant in decades and used to have them. Yes, interesting and colorful. Now I'll have to find myself one or two, so thank you for this reminder of a plant post!

did they get enough bugs? after all, they are getting their nitrogen from the insects rather than the dirt... http://www.facebook.com/txtriffidranch

Venus Flytrap Plant - The Venus Flytrap, Dionaea muscipula, is a carnivorous plant that catches and digests animal prey—mostly insects and arachnids.
When we talk about "Venus Flytrap Plant" it's a very interesting plant which is a carnivorous plant. Very good plant if get it back and shoot video how it can catches insects and arachnids. The related video, Venus fly trap - The Private Life of Plants - David Attenborough - BBC wildlife; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ktIGVtKdgwo

I have only ordered plants once and they didn't live very long. I am not sure why, but I think it may have been the time it took to ship them. I have never ordered them again. I have never had a Venus Flytrap, if they are colorful, maybe I should get one. I could do with less insects!
