Home based businesses

For one of my second jobs, I do one of those home-based businesses (ie: Pampered Chef, Avon, Mary Kay, Silpada). I sell Lia Sophia, which is very nice costume jewelry. For awhile it was going really well. Had a few shows every month, helped me to make some extra money. Now I have ran out of new people to host me for these parties. I want to keep doing it but have run out of ideas how else to reach out to more people in my area to host me. If you have one of these type of businesses, could you give me any tips you have for getting more people to host you?

Hello aurorastorm,
That's great you had some success, but why don't you try and reach more people in different areas rather than just locally take it to the next level.

That is exactly the problem I have I don't know how to reach out to more people in other areas, trying to figure out some good ways of doing that.

I have a friend who also sells Lia Sophia and I own quite a bit of beautiful pieces. Don't you have a website for that I know she does. If you don't why don't you, where you can display your catalogs and better yet start a mailing list and send blasts out to all who subscribe and all who have purchased it in the past as when they get your updates from time to time you will find that they will buy again.
PM I can give you the name of a free mailing list great service you just need to get the email addresses, but this program is great as you can send follow up and it is a great auto responder. Within your site you can ask for all who register give you their email addresses.
Good luck.

On your site does it have the feature for members especially new members to sign up with their email address.
This email free program gives people the option to opt out, and that is what all marketers rule of thumb is to know. As soon as someone opt outs the program takes them off your mailing list and you no longer bother them.
I will send you the name via pm. Good luck girl it is such a daily struggle to keep our chin up daily. Today particularly I am having a difficult time.

I do have a website, but if you just keep sending to the same people they get sick of you, lol.
Please absolutely PM me I would love to get any help with this. I really appreciate your tips you never know.
The jewelry is really pretty as you know, and is reasonable.

aurorastorm,
do not get me wrong, I am not an expert here, however I am here to throw up a few ideas and hope you are able to benefit from it.
I thought you can give the host some sort of commission, so they would be more eager to work for you. when you might earn less in the short term but in the long run you would be able to use them as your agents and sell even when you are not around. That way you can even spread your wings to the near by neighborhoods.
Try run a little promotion on the products like having some small gifts for the children, that way you can always bring the mums back.
Just ideas, perhaps it might work for you.

I love as many ideas as I can get.
The hostess does get a lot of benefits but not splitting in the commission that is something I have never thought of but you never know that could work out. Love the gift idea to promote it with kids gifts, only works for girls but still that is another thing I did not think of, thank you so much.

I do it on facebook, but I have yet to get any bites.
I think people are just either to busy or just not really interested.
I have a good amount of friends on there, don't know how to solicit for more, lol.

Here in the Philippines, a lot of mothers do this kind of part time. they use this as their bread and butter. They usually visit with their friends and introduce their new products with them. They also go to ask their husband to bring the brochure to introduce the new products.

I have been looking for a home business since I can't gain employment because of my ex's lies tell the cops I punched in the nose 10 or 20 times about 9 years ago and I'm a big man a former football lineman and I don't hit women but got a conviction anyway. I need a home based business I have a wife and child to feed and bills to pay. I actually seen some employers shred my application. I don't have much money please help[ me.

look for inspiration around you which you could sell out of your backyard. Try low cost food you can sell around the neighborhood. I suggest you get a copy of entrepreneur magazine and get some ideas.... or any magazine where you can draw creative ideas.

You may already be aware of this, but a word of warning with Avon.
My partner has recently resigned as an agent. Several factors.
1. She has had several returns, for which they gave her credit in goods rather than to her account.
2. Several of the returns that she sent have been disputed, and they will not apply her credit. Only the most recent has, and she had to get stroppy about that!
3. A lot of her customers started shopping direct from the web site- same price and they could get delivery direct, without having to wait for her to order.
4. Deleiveries were often left outside, unsigned for (or forged by the driver).
