Laundry keeps multiplying!

I don't mind most household chores, except doing laundry. The reason I hate doing laundry is because it never seems to end. There are always dirty clothes or towels. Now this past weekend we had relatives stay with us, which was fun. So now there are sheets and more towels to wash. When will it ever end. What chore do you not love doing and why does it make you get upset?

I do not mind laundry and I try to keep up as much as I can so that I do not spend a full day doing it. The only household chore I totally loath is taking out the garbage, I do not know why I cannot stand it. In fact one of things I told my boyfriend when I moved in is I hope he did not mind by taking out the garbage I cannot do. Lucky for me he doesn't mind and takes it out everyday. Whoo hoo..

That made me laugh. So many people have their own thing that they do not like doing. Garbage taking out no problem for me. Laundry always gets the best of me but now I know why I am terrible about keeping up with it. So when I do it, sometimes can be 4 loads in one afternoon.

See it started with my ex-husband he used to tell me it was my responsibility not his. He said he was not born with the title therefore he would not do it. Now you know why he is an ex. LOL

I agree that doing laundry is not a pleasant job as rightly said it never ends. But unfortunately of fortunately there is no alternative to cleanliness. It is said that cleanliness is next to godliness.Suppose we take it as a pleasant work how do we feel about it. Yes as a matter of fact any work if we have to do routinely and continuously it is not pleasant. There must be some work which one would feel like doing...shall I say watching TV.It is also a work and I know many people doing it regularly and religiously. Therefore the advice here is to take a liking to do laundry feeling there is nobility in removing dirt. Then there would not be boredom. Alternatively follow the saying " what cannot be cured must be endured"

Now that is a very positive way of looking at doing the laundry and I always need some more positive ways of looking at things. You are right when something gets to repetitive we do tend to stop enjoying it unless we look at it a different way, so I thank you for giving me another way to think about it.

Hi, aurorastorm. I like to clean. But the chore that I dislike the most is cleaning my egg shell walls. We have beige walls and it so easily to get very dirty. This is what I can't stand. My back hurts when I bend down to clean the walls.

We do also, and I have to be honest I am really bad about cleaning them. For some reason no matter how many times you clean certain ones, they always get dirty quickly especially when you have kids. The hallway leading up the steps always has dirty hand prints everday.

In my house you can always count on two things. there will always be dishes to do and there will always be a mountain of laundry that needs washing. Sometimes i don't know which chore to tackle first. sometimes I feel as if I'm doing both at the same time. If I could choose one household chore not to perform, it would be laundry. It seems to be the most time consuming.

Don't even get me started on dishes, lol. My house is like yours I think always have both and never seems to end.

I am like you, Aurorastorm. I can't stand the laundry, for the same reason--it never ends. I have two young boys, and when they were in camp this summer, it was even worse than usual--they had to wear the same camp shirt every day, plus bring a bathing suit, towel, change of clothes, and jacket, every single day. Times two boys, and this makes an extra load of laundry EVERY night. And I don't even mind the washing and drying so much--it's putting it all away that really steams me--especially when I see that they just pull stuff off hangers or out of drawers and then throw the clothes (clean) on the floor! I have completely given up on ironing--I figure if we all have clean clothes, that's good enough, even if we're a little wrinkled!

I think that is exactly the problem. I only have one, but with camp it was ridiculous, so you have all the camp clothes to clean and they still wanted to change their clothes when they get home. No wonder laundry is such a chore and never ends.

I really don't mind doing the laundry, though I sometimes hate folding the clothes when it's done drying. Now I hate cleaning my bathroom. I don't mind cleaning it, but two other people use it and they always make a mess and never clean the bathroom at all. Which pisses me off. Instead I just bite my tongue, be nice, and just clean it and don't complain about it.

That really stinks cleaning the bathrooms is really a chore and not fun. If I were you I would not hold my tongue for very long, that does not seem fair that you are the only doing the cleaning.

I hate sweeping and mopping. I think it's because it's not a job you can just do quickly and be done. Before you can mop you must first wipe down all the counters and tables and whatever.. then you must sweep really well.. then mop. You know, if my stove is dirty I just clean the stove, if the table is dirty I just clean the table... I can't JUST mop the floor, though it would be nice if I could.

What you wrote is so true about cleaning in general, you really can't just clean one thing, because it always snowballs into more cleaning. Can't vacuum the floor without first dusting the furniture, fans, etc. Maybe now we know the real reason why cleaning really is a dreaded chore.

I hate sweeping floors and cleaning out the refrigerator. I love water, so washing dishes is sort of therapeutic. Laundry is a hassle but its only me so its not that bad.

Ha ha - I'm doing laundry right now just as I am writing this! I don't like doing laundry either - but that's mostly because I have to leave the apartment and go downstairs to do it. I can only do it if my baby is sleeping or if both kids are occupied that I can slip away to do it - but I don't like leaving the kids alone in the apartment. Not that I'd be gone long - but you know anything can happen in less than a minute. Then, we don't have an elevator, so I have to haul the loads downstairs and back upstairs. I try to do it all once a week on the same day to stay on top of things (although you know it's not always easy to do). In that sense, I have extras of everything (clothes, sheets, towels) which take up space, but at least we don't have to worry in case the laundry doesn't get done on time - ha ha!

Okay, now when I am tired of doing my laundry I am going to remember you and not feel like it is such a chore. My washer/dryer is right next to where I use my computer, no steps involved. So I will feel more positive about mine and I need all the positive thinking I can get, so I thank you for this.

yes..laundry doesn't seem to stop for God's sake.., and I am a lousy laundry girl too.., I prefer to wash dishes and sweep the floor and even do mopping the floor but doing my laundry takes a lot of time and energy and it dries up my hands too.., That's why I do laundry once a week only.. I don't use washing machines because I think the dirt is not removed totally so I do it manually.., but i feel fulfilled every time I finish my weekly laundry..=0

I also don't like doing the laundry so much. Because as you said, it keeps on multiplying. I hate to see that even I haven't finished yet with the current pile of laundry, then there comes another .. That is why I only wash important clothes and underwear s, and save the other unimportant ones to be brought to a laundry shop for them to do it for me.. I wash those left for me manually though.. But it's okay as long as they're few..

The are some parta that i hate doing laundry, and they are separating the color clothes, and clothesline it, and after the clothes are dried, folding it. Even if i have the drier machine the folding part it tired me a lot.
