Hell here on Earth

Does hell exists afterlife or is it here. The reason is I was watching a program called 'dark days'. It was about a group of people who live under the tunnel of a major city. By the way it's a true story. Those that they interview had quite an interesting pasts and how they ended up where they are now. After watching this, I wonder can it get any worse than where they are. Are they experiencing their hell here on earth?
