physical types

why are some people only attracted to certain physical types? for example, why are some women only attracted to men with blond hair and blue eyes, while some other women are attracted to men with brown eyes and black hair, etc. is there a scientific or psychological reason for this attraction to certain physical types?

you can't deny human nature.it's all in our nature.we fall for the beautiful things in life.
men fall for women with good looks and vital stats...they feel a sense of excitement before getting phsically intimated and enjoying the wonderful relationships, same case with women.

yes, i agree with you, but i have often wondered why it is that we are only attracted to specific physical types as opposed to any attractive person of any physical appearance. for example, why are some men only attracted to blondes as opposed to other men who are only attracted to brunettes. i have often wondered what causes those specific preferences. that would be a mystery worth unravelling. thanks and have a wonderful day.

in psychology this is called "physical similarity" attraction theory. we are not only attracted to people with similar attitudes, personality, or demography; we also get attracted to people with similar looks, physical features or "matching attributes." we tend to like people who are more similar to us, or more or less look like us. if you're thin then you also tend to prefer a guy or girl who is also thin or lean. if you're dark you also get attracted more to persons with dark skin.

that might be true but sometimes i see couples that do not look anything alike-thin with fat, young with old, tall with short, etc.
how does one explain people who are attracted to dissimilar people?

I saw a documentary about this once. It is scientific but it also has something to do with life experiences. Maybe your mom only told you for years that boys with blond hair and blue eyes are better. Maybe that makes you only like blond haired blue eyed boys? This is just an examples but it's what I'm getting at. I'm sure there are many factors that go into why people are attracted to certain characteristics of another person.
