Frustrating incident in manila hostage taking

As i've watch the CNN news last night regarding the hostage taking in manila it breaks my heart watching the hostages has been killed by the gunman .. It's very frustrating why some of the government officials didn't make an actions negotiating the hostage taker earlier , why they need to wait for many hours until the gunman becomes vigilant .. They should plan it well before they make an action just to save the people inside the bus. I felt so sad of what i have seen.. And i just couldn't understand why the President of the Manila didn't act soon or send an immediate well trained negotiator or media so that the gunman will be calm released the innocent victims.. Do you think it's safe to go to Manila for a tourist? Until now i've been following what other countries comments about this matter and it's really frustrating. Is Manila really that worst? :(

I see that news too,and i'm a little angry with the police. The gunman let some children and old men do originally. So the gunman is reasonable at first. But because of the police's negative action, the gunman became irritable little by little. It took 8 innocent lives.I'm very frustrating as well.

I believe there is a big scandal in this issue. The hijacker just demanded to be back to work because he thought the judgment to him was wrong. He asked for media to broadcast it. At first he was calm and even set free several hostages. I think his purpose just wanted to hijack the foreigners to threat the government to judge his case that he was innocent. Isn't it too difficult to agree to judge his case again? If he was not innocent, he wouldn't have these requirements. However, the negotiation and the rescue were totally stupid and failing. The government just kept annoying this hijacker. Such as they handed in the paper to reject his demands officially. Furthermore, they caught his brother and his wife. So finally this hijacker was totally in range and everything was out of control.

Many factors affected the situation in Manila. I think that yes, the majority of the responsibility lies with the President but we have to remember that there are many unplanned chains of events that lead to the disaster. For instance, when the brother of the hostage taker resisted talking to the police and telling his brother not to go down unless the government has given in to their demands. The negotiation was fine before his brother threw a tantrum. I think also, that the police lacked training, something by which the president could not have anticipated because he is not the trainer. I just found it stupid because this has all happened before and the P.N.P. should have been trained for it. I think that because of their lax attitude they became complacent and ignorant and proud that they taken for granted so many lives, although I do believe that they gave their all trying to save the hostages but I believe with the right training and decisions this could all have been prevented. What do we expect? do we expect for it to have a happy ending? wake up people! not every story has a happy ending :|

Yeah I'm also watching yesterday and I was really frightened to witness it live on tv. I was concern of the hostages situation because some are children. I also ask myself what if the word is watching, it will be a bad hit on our tourism. The media is not of help in negotiation. They add madness to the hostage taker's mind. There is a television on the bus and He can see what is happening outside and had a clue about the police tactics. I'm now a little bit worried that tourist will not consider Philippines on their destination list because of this.
