I just watch a piece of news on CCTV. It said our cell phone is dirtier than the handle of the flushing toiler in the toilets. A research from a U.K. team have shown that germs on our cell phone surface is tens times more than on the handles of flushing toilers. Experts advise us to wipe our cell phones using medical alcohol at least once a week for sterilization .

Do you often clean your cell phone?[/i]

dear qianyun,
no offense but i find the subject exaggerated.
firstly, you are the only person using your cellphone. i dont think you will in your own sense, hold it with dirty hands.
secondly, it is part of cellphone maintenance to wipe clean it with a clean cloth or a sanitized cloth at least every two days. (i for one will give it a bath if only it will not get destroyed. wouldnt you? yes sure, its a joke).
hope you take these thoughts very positively.
have a nice day,
ann

Hi qianyun6~ You are so right! People don't think about how
dirty alot of things are, including the keyboards that some
of us are typing on right now! I do wipe my cell phone once
in awhile with one of those anticeptic wipes as I do my house
phones and computer keyboard and any other surface that might
have "scary" "nasty" little germs!

I actually clean my phone once a week, but that is because I saw a similar story on the news about a year ago and it grossed me out!!! There are so many germs on a phone and we care consistently putting it next to our ear and mouth, yuck! And not to mention, we put the phone down in our purse, pocket, our desk where ever, but it picks up germs there as well and then we put it right back up to our mouth. Anyways, right after I saw that story on the news I started cleaning my cell phone weekly.

I do use a cloth to wipe mine if it is handy, ro I will use my top to clean it. I do try to keep it clean as I don't like smudges and fingerprints on it. I have a screen saver on it, which does keep the screen clean, but the phone gets dirty everywhere else, so I do wipe off the fingerprints when necessary. I do try to avoid using it when I am cooking though, and so far so good. Thank you for the information though, as I sure wasn't aware of any of this. Take care, and have a very good day.

First,I want to praise you that you will be a potential non native English speaker.
Then, come to the point,I have also watch this shocking news on the renren website, but I don't believe this reality of the news by now.I have told this thing to my colleague how dirty the mobilephone we are using, just as you said above-even dirty than the handle of the flushing toiler. My colleague couldn't believe that, too. She said that how the mobilephone can dirty than the handle in the toilet,as we all know, the handle is touched by many people everyday, but the personal mobilephone is only touched by the owner.why?what's the reason?I have consider it and the result is:breeding bacteria is one potential characteristic.Do you agree with me ?

Hi, juanjuanlevin!
First thank you for your praise!
Then for the question. Actually I feel confused by your colleague's "how can" and I don't believe it very much too. But we should notice that different from the toilet handle, our cell phones are used near our mouths. So I think we should sterilize it regardless of whether it is really dirtier than toilet handles.
Have a healthy body and Happy myLotting!

Oh my goodness thanks for the information. I have am one that always has my cell by side morning noon and night. I have a tendency to pick it up even while eating so there is no telling all the gunk that is sitting right on it.
I will try really hard to remember to clean more frequently.

Absolutely and this morning before I logged on to my computer I polished and sanitized my phone. Funny my boyfriend was wondering why I was doing that and I explained your discussion, so he cleaned his too.
Thanks so much for the information, we are very happy!

Hi qianyun,
I didn't know that and have not done that before, but now I will start! It is quite logical if we think about it because we use our phones quite often and sometimes even in the middle of having a meal or something. It is very possible that there were lots of germs being transferred onto the phone. I think it is also the same with our keyboards, should clean those regularly too.

With all the touch screen phones out now, I can see that they're quite dirty. BUT... You need to be careful of what you clean the screens with. Some harsh chemicals break down the touch screens.

well i usually clean it once a day. but i think its understandable how it can become dirty. with the regular handling, placing it in some desk and some sort.

I would say that my cell is as clean as my toilet handle as I wash both religiously.
Oh sure some people never think of washing things they use all the time but I do. Call me an*l about it lol.
So no germs on my cell or toilet handle.
