Well all use internet everyday... and search on the net for something or other.. Every time we search for a something we come across a good or useful site...
recently I was searching for the books and found a good site which searches all the .pdf files on the net for your search keyword... I find it useful.. so the first thing I did was to bookmark it for future reference... But then I realize that I had many such websites in my bookmark before my computer crashed.. so I noted this site in a diary... what do you do in such case.. do you bookmark it, add to favorite, put it down to paper or some other options that you have...

Well... I don't have to worry either by put it down to paper or file or mail it to me.I just use Firefox with Xmarks add-on.You have to make an account and after that all you bookmarks, password, even history will be sync.If you add a site to you bookmarks it will be saved.so if you PC crash, format or any other thing, No problem at all :D.And if you have more computers you it will sync between them.
I use Xmark but for friends I also keep a .html file and .json file with my bookmarks, both saved by a browser(Firefox in my case)

Hi Neo... that is a great idea.. I never knew that.. I have checked this site now.. But not sure if I would use it.. the problem is that it requires me to download software... which I think is not safe.. I use my computer for accessing my bank account.. for how long have you been using it?..

saving the websites to the notepad doe not solves the problem .. what if the hard disk is corrupted and you are no longer able to access any files on you hard drive.. storing it on the pen drive is like you are blocking the space of the pen-drive.

Since I'm using Firefox, I usually leave the site open and then make sure I'm going to read it later. But, if I don't have time, I'd bookmark it and then read it any day I want.

Bookmarking helps but you may lose those if ever you have to format your hard disk or it is corrupted.. so if these are important sites for you try keeping a backup of the bookmark sites...

Yes, i agree on that because as what I've also observe some website are useful for us. We users of internet make some experiment in some website and thats what I've observe to others. I think other are so boring in some of their website so they make some experiment. :)

So what do you do with the websites that you find are useful to you or that you want to refer in future... Do you make a note of such sites?

I certainly use the internet every day. Internet is the information highway for all kinds of information. I spend many hours each day on the internet doing market research work related to my business. Of course, when I find the sites which can be references for the long term, I would add them to my favorite list. There is a long list of sites on my favorite list now.

Hi suman, i use to bookmark the sites which i found useful and want to visit it again after sometime for reference.
And after i bookmark the sites, i made a quick backup of the bookmark file into my hard drive and store it in backup.
FIrefox provides facility of making back-up of stored bookmarks so that they can be used again when you install fresh copy of windows or you re-install Firefox.
I just made backup of that file.It contains all my bookmarked site.Very useful trick.

Hi Harpreet
Well I did that too... but in my case unfortunately my hard disk was corrupted or had some technical issues so I could not even get the data on the disk... I had taken the backup of the bookmarks on firefox.. still I lost the data.. so I think it is not the best idea... until you burn it to some other disk...
If your bookmarks are important I would suggest you to try the idea in the first comment of this discussion...

I happens to me as well... when I see the number of sites that I had in my bookmark I taught that this is all I would need.. but then I would come across some other site sometimes with better content.. and more interesting.. so I keep looking for such sites...

Congrats. you are lucky that you tumbled on good sites. Though the internet contains so many sites only lucky people like you get good thins out of internet. Many do not.As you rightly said sites vanish even if make book marks due to various reasons. We cannot store all the information in the mind. The best thing is to note it down immediately in book for future reference. That is what I also do.

I will either bookmark it, read it when I have got more time or be scanning through it to decide if it's worth bookmarking. I will be sure to clear the amount of bookmarks I have on a daily basis. If possible, I will keep the number of bookmarks under 10. I don't like to write anything down on notebook or anywhere because I know I will be lazy to find them when I need it.
So it's better for me to read and clear out what I don't need, as to prevent storage of too much things. The same goes for movie links and blog links regarding online earnings. Only the best survives with me while the rest goes to the bin.

I don't like writing on the book as well but recent event lead me to do that.. I had many sites bookmarked .. and I have gone through it many times... but I never feel the need to remove it from the bookmark... I think I have never removed any site from the bookmark once it is added.. But I do organize my bookmark sites in different folders...

I do not prefer to keep my history on the browser... I think it slows the browser... and also this may have a threat of letting other know of your action on the net. so I delete the history from my browser...
