Incident in manila hostage taking

I watched the news that a hostage taking happened in manila last night.It was evident that the gunman was sane at first because he let several children and old men go.I just can't understand why the police didn't negotiate with the gunman and say a white lie to meet his requirements temporarily.I wonder why they acted that negatively.I'm a bit angry with the police.I feel great grief over the 8 innocent lives!

well their are news reports that say why he went ballistic because of the sudden arrest of his brother.

Our country has once again made a blast on this event,negatively, unfortunately. How sad it is to be on news once more, around the world, being ashamed on what happened, wherein our police had been very ineffective solving the tragic incident
