Are we not in the day and age of technology? Can we not communicate with other countries without leaving our home? Can we not do banking transactions without even talking to someone? Then can someone please tell me why we (parents) are still filling out fifty-million papers each year for enrollment and first day of school?
I thought we were trying to be a "green" society. Well how can we go green if we are wasting paper? Now, I'm not one of the "green" goers, but being wasteful is ridiculous.
If no information has changed on your child from the previous school year, why must we fill out all of that paper again? Even if in the same school district but switching to the middle school or high school papers get transferred, so why cant the address, emergency contact numbers, etc. get transferred?
Why hasn't someone looked at all the paper we are using and said you know, this could go towards fuel so we can keep our school buses and NOT RAISE TAXES.
We are in a digital world. You can go to college and grades k-12 on the computer, but yet we cant do re-enrollmemt? Or fill out emergency and field trip forms? Seriously people, let's get it together.
I don't see why if I have three students in the same school why I need to fill out three seperate emergency contact forms. Why can't there just be a master list per family or household?
Do you see where I'm coming from with this? I hope so. What's your take on this?

Oh yeah, I hear you loud and clear..I love the first day of school, when I finally get some peace and quiet around here only to be buried in paperwork when my son comes home..And there is a lot, since I also fill out the free/reduced lunch forms. Though I do have to admit, some things like emergency contacts have changed over the years, most everything else is the same. The same doctor,hospital,income..etc...
And you make an excellent point on the more than one child thing..Other than the medical, the contact should be the same for each child, so you should only have to fill it out once. I also went through a time when I had three kids in school at once..Wow, I spent days filling out all three piles of paperwork...

Thank you for responding. I'm sorry that you know the pain of having multiple children in the same school. I'm glad that at least those days are gone. I don't know what we are going to do, but I'm going to work on something, because my youngest is three so I'm going to be filling out forms for little while longer.
