What is popular interests me less as I get older.

I think that these days, there is less new music than ever before that interests me. I stick with the classics from the 80s and 90s, and even before then. There is some good music these days, don't get me wrong, but it is far less. Do you feel that the older you get, the less you are a fan of what is popular in the music world? Looking forward to reading your responses.

I agree with what you said, but there's still a lot of good music and artist out there nowadays. Not sure which genre of music you're into it, I'm a huge country music fans, and I think Rascal Flatts, Lady Antebellun and Sugarland are all awesome group, I will recommend you to listen to their songs. :)

I think that as long as there is music, there still will be some music out there that I will enjoy. Of course, it might be a lot less sometimes as opposed to others. Thank you for your response. It is much appreciated and it contributed to the topic well. Have a nice day and thanks.

I know exactly what you're talking about.
I'm 20, but I have found in the past couple years, I have been so much less interested in the popular new music. I turned the radio onto a top 40 station the other day, and didn't know what 80% of the songs or who the artists were.
I used to be so well-informed about pop culture and music. Instead I've just been more into independant/underground or older music.

It is only downhill from there, based on what I've heard from people about five or ten years older than I am right now. I can just imagine how out of it I'll be by the time I'm thirties, with what's popular. Thank you for your response. It is much appreciated and it contributed to the topic well. Have a nice day and thanks.

I'm only 24 and already feel like this is becoming true. However, I think it's more that the sort of music being made these days is often so unoriginal and just plain manufactured. It may have a catchy tune, but will I remember it in 5 years? It's unfortunate that this is occurring, and it's not only in the music world that it's going on, either. Seems like movies these days are becoming awfully predictable...

I see your point. A lot of music is just the latest act that sounds pretty much the same when you listen a bit too closely. Name might be different, but the rhyme is the same. I think a lot of it is just to make money today and not any longevity. Not that I blame them for wanting to make money, but still, that's what I see happening and the quality tends to suffer a lot of the time. Thank you for your response. It is much appreciated and it contributed to the topic well. Have a nice day and thanks.

I pointed out to a colleague about how our parents hated the music we liked as teenagers. Most likely our grandparents complained about their music as teenagers, as did our great grandparents before them.
Even worse are the one who insist on sharing their lack of taste with the world. I tried earphones, and the quality of the sound is a lot better the usual m3 or other device speakers, but no, they just have to make us suffer, especially if it is the violent racist stuff.
Then there is the technology that allows anybody to record a song and put it on the internet. I remember waiting for a movie to start, and they had some horrid sounding out of tune rambling that I left the auditorium until they started playing the previews.

It is always the case. The generation after us has something that really does not suit us. I guess its the fact that in many cases, we are not the target audience. Rather it is the teeangers of today. Thank you for your response. It is much appreciated and it contributed to the topic well. Have a nice day and thanks.

Yes, every passing year, the gap is getting wider. I'm like, yeah I might have liked this song if I was in a certain age group, but not any more. I guess I'm in a certain bubble in many ways and it has to take something that really speaks to me to get out of it. Thank you for your response. It is much appreciated and it contributed to the topic well. Have a nice day and thanks.

As a musically addicted person, I cannot stop appreciating new music. I do not see myself ever being less optimistic about a new generation's music. Because as a child I have already heard a lot of my older relatives question new music which led me to question my own taste and view of it at a very early age, the patterns and what not in which I often hear that things aren't as good as they used to be. For example, a dad who listened to 60s and 70s music would probably say the same thing about your 80s and 90s taste. Maybe its the adolescent memories for most people, but for me they are more. They are pieces of art and poetry that falls down through a constant stream that I hope will never dry up. I keep an open mind when it comes to this meaning I try to look at it objectively, no eras, no genres, no bands even. This way I can judge the piece of song solely by the merit of its beauty without being clouded by other facts that are irrelevant anyway (at least to me).

I think in many of us do in fact judge things that we know from our childhoods and maybe even teen years less harshly. Still, like I said, there is still some quality music out there but I think its just getting less and less these days for me personally. Thank you for your response. It is much appreciated and it contributed to the topic well. Have a nice day and thanks.

Yes, I do have the affinity and preference to songs and music of my student days. That was the time when we have plenty of time to listen to music and get addicted to. Yet, in any case, I like listening to classical music, then and now, Chopin, Brahms, Beethoven, Johan Strauss. I listen to them every evening after I get back home from my work. That's my way of relaxation.

Yes i truly agree with you. What music interested me before doesn't do me any good now. Same goes with food, clothes and more. I wish i could stay constant and be stable but i can't be so...
