Being part of Ms. Universe is not that easy especially in making it in top 15, 10 and 5. I admit I don't like her answer but in reality it is really hard to answer it for just a second especially if that is personal. I mean I've already imagine myself on my shoes if that is the question to me. I can't determine for a second on what to answer, what if that is private matter as well that you don't want to divulge it to a public.

Im still proud of her even her answer is not that good. I mean, it is really hard to answer in front of many people and besides, english is our second languange. She did not use interpreter like the other did. It's hard to think of what will you are going to answer in just a few seconds. You are under time pressure. If I were in her situation maybe I will stammer or maybe I will answer it incorrectly because the question is very personal. Its really hard especially when you know that all of the people of your country are watching you.

The language is not the problem there but the personal question. I believe even the question was ask in our own language definitely she can't even answer that according to the demands of the judge. Even the ex President of America was not able to answer that for seconds.

Just by being able to join the Miss Universe Pageant with a chance to represent our country is more than enough to be proud of. Making it to the top 15 then to the top 10 then to the top 5 is something that we should really be proud of. She's already a winner! Yes she could have won the title but it doesn't give us the right to make fun of her just because she didn't get the crown. The "major major" words are all over social networking sites and even in tv - making fun of her. I hope they will look at the positive side which is she's the 4th runner up of the Miss Universe Pageant (2010) rather than indulge themselves on how she answered the last question.

Actually her Major Major gave us the positive and remarkable note of the history. Whereas the question became more popular and indeed other people around the world are also analyzing this question on how to divulge it on national television.

i have not been able to watch the miss universe pageant but i have read the comments here in the internet and the news about it. It saddens me that many of those who made fun of her are co-filipinos who i might say, can't even get to halfway of what Venus had achieved so far.
We may not like her answer, but it was what she answered in that moment and that cannot be taken back anymore. The ms universe pageant is one, if not the most prestigious beauty contest in the world and to have made it to the top 5, is an honor indeed. I was mulling her question myself and for the life of me, i cannot have a ready answer even if i'm given just 10 minutes to think it over, how much more for her, standing in front of that crowd. she carried herself well despite the comments which should make us more proud of her. It is one's attitude and character during those trying moments that really shows who we are deep inside. And with the snide comments she's getting, i would say she's one calm, mature and very confident person.
I just hope and pray that all celebrities would be more like her, not rant in public if there's something bad said about them. It was a misgiving in her part and she knows it, of all people, she knew that she had the wrong answer, but look how calm she was and is still. It is a character worth emulating.

Exactly the point here. Not all Filipinos can achieved of what Venus had totally made. Others are totally misinterpreted of what she have answered but for real it is hard to analyze the one big mistake that you think you have regret and how to correct it in right. It will make the whole day for me to answer it. It was like a mathematical equation.

Yes... Ms. Maria Venus Raj brought pride of our country. The question was too personal and really hard to answer, compared to the 4 contestants, their questions were about national issues that can be answered with their views and feelings about it. She has a big chance though. I am so proud of her because she's a very positive person and her "major, major" was the best part of her being so popular now. Soar high my Ms. Universe!

I think if she was able to answer the question according to the demands of judges well I believe she reigns but still she made us proud with her positive answer. She projected that she has a good environment kind of family even the fact that she does not have her Dad on her side. Yes the word "Major, Major" is being popular now. It could be funny to hear to others but for those who believe in her it made them so major major proud.

I am very, very proud of Venus Raj and she's really very pretty. It has been quite a long time since Philippines made it to top 15, 10 & 5 and we all know how difficult it is to reach that category competing with more than 80 beautiful ladies. I could just imagine how nervous she was up there in front of the whole world, so I think we should just try to understand her instead of criticizing her and making fun of her answer. Reaching the top 5 is already a very, very big achievement and we should all be very proud of her. :)

I totally agree with you not to mention she became popular because of her answer. Until now her answer is really debatable because others are still disappointed like that is the worst answer they ever heard whereas they haven't tried to imagine themselves on their shoes and I don't know if they can really answer it for a second just to confessed their biggest mistake on how to make it right.

She is still a woman of grace and confidence. eing asked with personal questions will make you think for seconds to think of and when under pressure, what else can you say? You must project always in public that you do have a perfect image and personality, and family, a model of humankind. Its a natural defense mechanism that a person would exhibit. Its just the same when asked during your interview, "HOW DO YOU DESCRIBE YOURSELF?" Now, give me an honest answer after a pause for a second. If you are a person full of experiences and wisdom, no single word will come out from your brain. How about trying to answer it safely with this, "ITS COMPLICATED!".

At least she is a woman of grace that made us proud. And she is still exact the opposite of what the total disgrace of our one fellow Filipino did to the tourist that ends to struggle. The describing yourself question usually ask in interviews and sometimes they are asking your weaknesses that is hard to divulge because you would think that will only add to your evaluation.

Sad to say i wasn't able to see the question and answer portion of the miss universe pageant due to power failure, i don't have any idea of that "major major" it sounds funny to me, but what matters most is she won, 4th runner is not bad. good job indeed.

Actually she has point on her answer. Whereas it can't just really divulge around the world because the question was really personal.

it's really not easy, to be up there, so I am very proud of her. We should not begrudge one shortcoming for her entire performance as a candidate.
Anyway, watching the show you can see Ms. Raj really carried herself well.

I wasn't able to watch the pageant, but when I heard that she made the top 5, it made me proud of her. It's also possible that she might be extremely nerve-racked especially when she made it to the major part of the pageant. To win the pageant, confidence is one of the major keys. Not just simply beauty and brains.

Not to mention the question is actually was kinda sensitive in the sense that you can't just fully answer on 2 minutes.

I didn't also like her answer but at the same I understand her. She must be pressured and nervous so that was probably why she answered like that. But despite of that, she made our country proud by reaching the 4th runner up.

I can't determine what Mr. Baldwin is trying to measure or test to a contestant. Is that testing the honesty? But the point is that is personal that not all people on this world can divulge like that in public. Even George Bush was not even able to answer it where in fact a lot of people around the world have seen his major mistakes.

It was indeed a not so very good answer from Venus. But how would we react if we were her? We dont know how it feels like joining the pageant. We can never judge her. Well.. Overall I am still proud of her. She made it to the Top 5! That is not an easy thing to do. So thank you venus for making the Philippines still part of the prestigious pageant! Good luck to the next Ms. Philippines. Happy mylotting!

Me too i'm not satisfied with her answer. I was expecting a lot more from her. maybe she was just nervous that lost her confidence during Q & A. but i'm still proud of her being able to make it at the top 5.

no doubt she was nervous about it. but she did her best, we can't judge her since were not in that position.

It happens that the question for her was too personal compare to other contestants that is more likely as motherhood asking about the advantages of using such things.

Actually, I am fine with her answer. I think it's good enough compared to Ms. Janina San Miguel, right? I'm not accusing Janina, but I'm just making a comparison between the 2 ladies. Before judging someone else, we should put our own selves first in their positions. Being a part of the pageant is indeed a hard thing to do. It's complicated, for your own country depends on your success. You're "carrying" your own nation, so it's really difficult to perform in such event.
Still, I'm proud of her. Out of all the contestants, she still made it to Top 5. :)

I was about to say that, I mean at least she is not like Janina who was been that so nervous that much.
