Is bible perfect huh? I am not sure if it is perfect or not, but there is something wrong in the bible. I have noticed that millions of religions and preachers used the bible, but they have different interpretation in the bible. Oh my gosh........

2 Timothy 3:16-17 " All scripture is given by inspiration (breathe of God) of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction and for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works." Friend, the Bible is the word of God and therefore perfect for God is perfect. The Bible is perfect. I challenge those people who is questioning the infallibility of the Bible to read it first. Read it first from Genesis to Revelation. And tell me the exact verse that is wrong. Napoleon Bonaparte says " The Bible has the power to conquer those who oppose it." The Bible is perfect, but those who interpret the Bible are not perfect. The LORD Jesus said, it is easier for heaven and earth to perish than for God's word to perish. God preserves His words contained in the Bible. Thousands of years have passed but the Bible still remains. God is preserving it. A famous scientist once declared that in just one hundred years the Bible and Christianity will no longer be heard. The opposite happened. Hundred years after Voltaire said that, his very house became the printing press of the Bible and Christianity is still flourishing. So let us be careful not to challenge the very book that comes from the mouth of God. Colossians 1:21 " God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. God chose what the world think as not important in order to destroy what the world think as important. God chose the message that sounds foolish in order to save those who believe."

For me, no other book than the bible that is telling the truth. It is truly perfect, in fact it is written in the book of Psalms 18:30 it says "As of God, his way is perfect: the word of the Lord is tried: he is a buckler to those that trust in him." Now to your question why preachers have different interpretation, the answer is simple, they are ignorant of God's righteousness, let's read it in Romans 10:3 "For they, being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God." Remember, there are nothing words to interpret in the Bible, it's meaning already written in the bible itself, all they have to do is seek out, and read, as it says in Isaiah 34:16

There are different definitions of the word "perfect". Which one are you using?

Since you are Catholic, you know that it says in 2 Timothy 3:16 - All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work. Wouldn't anything that's God breathed be perfect? If your questions can't be answered to your satisfaction, does that mean God's word isn't perfect? What contradictions are you talking about? What do you find incomplete? Read and study the Bible yourself to understand what is important and why.

The bible is not perfect at all. I am sure that its not, 100 percent sure that its incomplete. There are so many important things in the bible that was taken. I guess that's why we dont see the fullness of God's words in the bible cause a lot of essential things were taken. That's the reason why we need another book to help explain about God. A book that contains the fullness of the Gospel of God.

Hi p3ks626, can you tell me what are those important things in the bible that was taken? Because you mention the word "taken" that mean somebody took that things, in other words when we say there is missing we know exactly what is that missing, that is why I'm looking it from you, and what another book do you think we need to explain about God. You must have to prove that. Maybe you are one of those who are ignorant of God's righteousness, mention in the book of Romans 10:3 or you maybe reading not the bible in full. Because it is clear written in the book of Psalms 18:30 it says "As of God, his way is perfect..."

@Lendmhe and john: There really are so many important things in the bible that was taken out from it. You are right about the fact that God's way is perfect but man's ways arent. And as what the other respondent say, we should seek guidance. I exhort you to take the advice of James read James 1:5-6. Ask God if you need another book to help you understand fully about God, make sure it comes from the heart. You might not have the answer now but continue doing it until you will have it. Time will come you will understand what I mean and when that time comes that we would finally meet, I would be glad to teach you about that book. And Lendmeh, I really dont consider myself IGNORANT of God's words as you would say I am. If you are thinking that I am saying those things cause I am ignorant, well, I say different. I think its you! You are the one who needs more enlighten. You really think you know but you dont. But I know what I am saying is true. I know that we need another book to help us understand more about the gospel of God.

johnrichards07: On the contrary, it is the atheists who have researched and applied logic and reasoning to the bible and whether or not god exists. It is the religious who have never tried to confirm their own beliefs. Do you perform sacrificial offerings? Because according to the bible, that's what god wants you to do. God also approves of human sacrifices. (1 Kings 13:1-2, DE 13:13-19) How do you feel about god being angry and vengeful, and killing entire nations just because they do not believe in him? Why is he no longer slaughtering atheists and all other non-Christians? (ZE 3:6-10) God also approves of slaughtering the entire town of Micah, including children, even though the bible states clearly that they are peaceful. Their only 'sin' was idol worship. How can you think this is an all loving, omnipotent god? (Judges 18:27-28) And what about quotes from both god and jesus, stating that, "all things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive?" (MA 21:21-22) In all four gospels Jesus states clearly that those who pray will receive what they want. Yet of the millions who pray, not one has proof that their prayers have ever been answered. This is not stuff that should require interpretation. "And whatever you ask in my name, I will do, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask anything of me in my name, I will do it." John 14:13-14. Guess Jesus and god were lying that whole time, huh? In order for Christianity to even be relevant anymore, Christians have to look for loopholes in science (and not find any) and try to rationalize things that don't make sense in the bible (such as not having your prayers answered.) What you need to do is actually spend some time critically looking at the religion you so firmly believe in, while considering that there are thousands of religions out there that you have never heard of, yet have followers who are as devout, faithful, and certain that their religion is the right one as you are.

No, it is not at all. Ignoring the fact that it is a book of mythology and false history, there are plenty of inconsistencies throughout the bible. As well, the books that are accepted in the bible have changed throughout the years, with some books such as the Gnostic gospels actually being concealed by the church in the past because they did not agree with the representation they gave. If you're interested in seeing some of the inconsistencies, and therefore imperfections, in the bible, this is a good place to start: www.infidels.org/library/modern/donald_morgan/inconsistencies.html

The bible is most certainly not perfect. Whether the words in it are the word of God or not, it still remains that human men wrote it. Also let's remember that back in the day a copy of a book had to be handwritten, so if a monk didn't particularly like one part, or if he was getting tired in his penmanship, he would often times change something or skip something. Then those mis-copied / mis-interpreted bibles made it into mass production when we got a print press, and it's been subject (even when it was hand copied) to personal interpretation ever since. Completely a hot mess, if you will. However, it IS still the closest thing we have to God's simple loving words, and it DOES have a lot of wisdom and great advice in it. So I read it, and I look to it for answers, but I take it all with a grain of salt, and I depend on my true answers from praying and meditating and speaking to God himself. Much clearer communication that way

Perfection is the finality and finality is the end. Nothing in this world is perfect, not even the Bible though everyone believes that it is the 'Word of God'. That is to say if you see bible as a book of historical facts then it is not. However, if you see bible as a 'Promise' from God then it is perfect. People interpret bible differently for this reason. Some view it is a book of historical events and some view it as a God's promise to Abraham. He promised him a son, a savior, a Messiah, who would be born to save humanity from consequences of sin. God kept his word and he came himself as his own Son to suffer and die for the sins of humanity. The whole bible revolves around this theme. View bible in the right perspective and you will realize that the Bible is perfect. If you view it with wrong perspective you would see lots and lots of imperfection in it.

Mind if I break in? I am a Muslim and Muslims believe in Jesus and the bible as well. Jesus as a prophet and bible, the original one. We have the same root of divinity, anyway. We, Muslims, believe the quran came to reform the corrupted bible. Thousand years since the revelation the quran has remained unchanged, not even one letter is able to be corrupted. God has kept His words in the quran itself as proof it is His. Peace be unto you all.
