My Daughter the other night had thought there was a ghost in the house... she heard the rocking chair moving. It was moving because one of the cats likes to rock in the chair at night. I dunno why but it's so cute in a way that they like to rock in the rocking chair when we are in bed. I came back into the room a few minutes ago to find one of the girls laying in the chair.

oh how cute and I bet your daughter wanted to find out what kitty liked to rock the chair for, and maybe she fell asleep. Smart cat knows a good rocker when he or she finds one. The kitty probably loved the motion and just thought aha Im going to have some fun all by myself.

I think they even bicker over who's going to be in the rocker as I hear them rock and squabble from time to time.

I would love to see the cat rocking in the chair. That would be a sight for sore eyes. You should try and video it if it happens again. I'm glad your little girl heard the explanation. That is one smart cat that you have there. I used to have a rocking chair that I used when I nursed my babies. Brought back a lovely memory - thank you

They only do it at night when the house is quiet & everyone has gone to bed. I don't know about being smart or just getting situated in the chair that they rock it here & there.

I have that same "ghost"! My computer room is in the back of the house so I can't see my screen patio door and who comes in. (We live in the country and my daughter lives across the road so they come and go...just thought I should clarify that) Anyway, back to my story.....I will be back here in the computer room and hear someone sliding my screen patio door but when I come out of the room and look no one is here. At first I thought this was my imaginenation but it keeps happening, only when I am in the computer room. Then the other day when it happened I looked and here were the two kittens sitting in front of my door looking in. Now the amazing thing about the kittens is these are the two that were wild! They are strays and as babies I couldn't touch them. But now they eat on their own and I feed them (Earlier post about them...Food always wins out..if you want to know more about them) but since mom has abandoned them on my porch they have gotten friendly. I think when I am on the computer they are lonely???? or just hungry cause I set all my leftovers out on the deck. I think they found how to get my attention. Oh and mommy kitty has a new litter, of 6, at my daughters!

they don't come in. I have 2 inside cats that never go out but they like to lay in front of the door and 'tantalize' my out door cats. I think they are just pushing on the screen but it sounds like the door is sliding but when I go look it isn't opened.

I hope they don't shed your screen door letting themselves in. Perhaps a cat door would be in order

Cats are sneaky animals and they get around quiet enough to seem like ghosts sometimes. I hope your daughter is reassured now that it's just a silly kitty cat rocking in the chair. Seems like that'd be video worthy, I mean recording the cat rocking but as soon as you get it ready the cat will bolt I'm sure...

I catch them sleeping on it, but only for a few moments before they run off. But I hear it moving on and off during the night. I'm assuming it's more getting on and off and comfy in it than anything.

That is too funny. We've not really had cats in our home for a very long time, so I am still learning new things about them on a daily basis. However, I have found that my kitten has an uncanny thing about my desk. If you can't find her she is hiding behind my monitor. And there have been several times that I will find that she has unplugged my speakers. Her newest one, however, is that she loves to sleep on my keyboard.

One of my kitties really likes porch swings, rocking chairs and glider rockers. Just like people, huh? He never scared us at night, though.

I have an online friend who's cat likes to jump in the chair and make it spin around, there is NO accounting for cats...

the cat would run and jump and make it spin, he'd also sit in it afterward and cry until she would come and make it spin while he rode in it... my cats would get sick doing that

Is that while the cat is in it that it makes it spin, or just as a result from jumping on it?

Hi SnuggleBunnies, lol I really did used to have a ghost in a house I lived in and in this one people have seen a cat which isn't one of my two. I hope it didn't frighten your daughter too much. At least you know it was the cat rocking it bless! Huggles. Ellie :D
