Baking is no where near as hard as it may seem. To make a cake their are three basic methods : The creaming method The whisking method The rubbing in method If you wanted to make some cupckaes the first method would be the best, basically for every egg that you use you need 2oz (45g) of margarine, sugar and SR flour. Just beat the margarine and sugar together until creamy, beat in the egg well and then fold in the flour. A 2 egg ixture will make 12 - 18 cup cakes. The rubbing in method is probably the easiest, to make a nice fruit cake you will need 8oz (180g)self raising flour, 4oz (90g) butter or block marg,4oz sugar, tspn mixed spice or cinnamon (optional, 8oz (180g) dried fruit, 1 egg and ΒΌ pint milk. Rub the margarine into the flour until it looks like breadcrumbs.Stir in sugar, spice, fruit then mix in the egg and milk. Mix well. Put the mixture in a loaf tin lined with greaseproof paper. Cook on middle shelf of oven. (180) For about 40 minutes. The whisking method is a little more tricky but it has the advantage of being fat free, for each egg you use you will need 2oz (45g) of sugar and SR flour. Seperate the ehh yolks from the whites , whisk egg whites until stiff, whisk in the sugar and then the yolks and finally fold in the flour very lightly with a metal spoon.

I would suggest your first try those cake mixes sold at the grocery stores. Sometimes all you need to add is water and eggs. They are good to practice with. Then you go next to the no-bake recipes, like cheesecakes and refrigerator cakes. HTen you can go on to those that really require you to mix a lot of ingredients. In between baking projects, I suggest your read on terminologies and other recipes. Happy baking!
