I swear to you I have not cheated when i was a student, even during college, for me the test are given to measure my knowledge and understanding on the lesson, From my observation, my fellow students cheat coz they know they will failed so they have to do something about it, cheating is their best recourse.

Well I am, I study hard, always, and take lesson in advance.

Students (sometimes even the clever ones) tend to cheat because they are not confident with the knowledge that they have (whether they studied or not). They want to score high marks and make their parents happy, even if it means doing things the wrong way. If they score well, they will avoid any scolding or punishment and perhaps even receive a reward if they score well in a test or exam. This, I believe, is the main motivation for students to cheat even though they know very well of the consequences of their action. But yeah, students should study well and try and avoid cheating if possible.......not good for their future.....

I would be lying if I said I never tried to cheat before, but what I can assure you is that I don't often do it.....

I think people want to cheat because it's always easier to not do the work and still get the same results. If the student doesn't get caught, then they get a good test score without studying. Sometimes it's hard not to cheat even if the students know they are in big trouble if they get caught. I've cheated before and I'm not proud of it.

I think there are many reasons why students cheat. The most obvious reason is that it is a short cut, where they do not want to do the work to excel, so they let others pretty much do the work. It is laziness and the only one that they are hurting is themselves. I remember quite a few students cheating, some got caught by the teacher, some never got caught, but still it was always a short cut.
Then there are some to do it to prove that they can get away with. There are just some people who get a rush out of doing things like that. It is the same thing with many criminals. They commit crimes for the thrill of it. Its twisted in many ways but it is very true. I think that in some way, they are proving how crafty they are. Of course if some people who cheat really put as much energy into studying as they do cheating, they would really excel a lot of the time and be some of the best students in the school. But that's just my take on things.

some people cheat bcs they hate school, hate study so they dont want to waste their time studying^^ if they can cheat ahah also in some subjects is ok to do that bcs we dont need it in our future and we need to pass it and is hard sometimes. anyway sure is better to study than to cheat^^ but those that cheat doesnt mean they are not smart enough to have good marks^^

Hi, jailo12. They cheat because they have not taken the ample time to study for the test. They cheat because they want to pass the test. They cheat because they are just too lazy to read over their study notes. They are not prepared for the test. They have not given themselves enough of time to study like they should have.

I think that some people are just too lazy to do their own work, and then they get worried when they realise they no longer have enough time to finish whatever they were trying to do, so they try to steal somebody elses work as well.
The fact that so many people get away with cheating hardly helps, as it means that the people who cheat and get away with it are just encouraging those after them to cheat as well.

When I was studying the teacher training course I was shocked at how many teachers would cheat. I was appalled by a "friend" who wanted me to do a paper for him. He offered pretty good money too! We weren't friends after that as I refused to do it. I asked him what kind of example that would be for students.

Students cheat because they do not study when they have to. They are too nervous to study when the exams near so they make chits of papers to cheat in examination.

Cheating is really not a good idea, but in my opinion students do that because the information that they have in their mind is overloaded. Most of the time there are lots of things that we study and sometimes we got confused in the examination day. So for you to be sure on your answers one can't stop but look the answer of other student just to make them sure that you have the correct answer or just to refresh your memory. But some students cheat also because they didn't study at all.

students cheat because they don't want to fail in subjects... in terms of not studying, it may be because the student did not have time, is too lazy to really study, the student did not know that there will be an exam or quiz, or maybe he/she really does not know the answer and opted to cheat. In the end, it falls on the student... to cheat or not to cheat.^_^

In my experience as a student myself, there's this utter feeling that your answer may not be correct and in that you "accidentally" saw your classmate's answer, thinking yours is wrong THEN you start cheating. ;)
