I think all American people can relate to the American dream. But the situation now is not very inspiring. According to a CNBC poll shows that 70 percent people believe that American dream is dying, only 30 percent believe that there is still hope. This is really disappointing that lots of people are giving up hope and have given up dreaming. Personally I am very hopeful, I think everything is going to turn around.
What do you think?
Are you hopeful?

I am not very optimistic of reversal of the falling trend of American economy. Things have come to a level of saturation, showing not much scope for growth and progress. The Asian countries which were reeling for ages under poverty and economic backwardness are now all set to progress at a faster rate. The competitive strength of American economy is falling down, giving rise to high unemployment and underemployment of its young mass.Thanks.

I agree that American economy provides some opportunities for Asian countries due to their age old inter-dependence.But the nature and intensity of such inter-dependence in the area of trade, commerce and technology is changing very fast.India's growth prospect is considerably linked to its robust internal consumption and growing infrastructural need for a long period..Besides,the scope for outsourcing is no longer limited to one or few countries,it has now become too widely diversified and globalised. Still, the Asian countries will be affected,as you said. Thanks.

I know that some of Asian countries are growing, specially India and China. But I think without American economy they can't grow continuously. China's manufacturing depend on American market and American companies are outsourcing jobs to Indian which is an important factor for Indian economy. So, a strong American economy is important for everyone.

I think it is going to be a lot harder to get. Things just have not went well. I am hopeful, but would not stake my life on it, because it does look slim at this point.

There is a saying that "Where there is life, there is hope." I am alive, I am hopeful. There are things I can do to improve my situation, it is up to me to do so. I know that when this life is over I also have hope. As a people we may have to change our aspirations, but I believe we can have good lives.

I am so glad that you are hopeful. We should never give up hope. When we give up hope situation will stop from getting better. I am always positive about life.

I would tend to agree, as most Americans I know don't look on the bright side much anymore or set our their goals and dreams. A friend of mine from Texas often says that the American dream is now only with those who want to move into the country and I don't know if that's a fair reflection but it just seems to be one of those things. The United Kingdom feels like it's going down hill, I don't know why people want to move here when the government don't listen to the decent citizens about major changes that are needed.
