I am on a water pill to aid my blood pressure pills to reduce my body fluids. After I started the water pill I started having sever leg and feet cramps when I went to bed at night. After a night of now sleep because I was walking around to relieve the cramps I thought about how atheletes use Gatorade to rehydrate. Well I bought a bottle and started drinking a small glass before bed time and guess what! No cramps! I am keeping it on hand now and take a small glass before going to bed. I can actually sleep all night without leg or feet cramps now! Woo Hoo! Do you drink Gatorade? What flavor do you like?

Hi Jill, So glad that you hyave found something that works to relieve the leg cramps and give you a good nights sleep :). Personally I have never heard of Gatorade so we don't have it under that name here in the UK so can't answer on the flavour factor. Huggles. Ellie :D

I am so happy that you have found something that helps. It must be a great relief to you. I also take water pills with tablets for hypertension but do not have any cramps. Mind you - I drink at least two litres of water a day if not more. But if I do ever get cramps then I now know what to use.Blessings and I really am happy for you.

I read the cement on bananas having more potassium than Gatorade and wondered. I do eat several ripe bananas a day and now I am wondering if this is why I do not get leg cramps. Who knows? It could be

Glad you are feeling better. I am not a fan of Gatorade but wouldn't be able to drink it now since it's full of sugar. Am not surprised Gatorade helped since it's good if you've been sick with the flu or have another tummy problem. If I was going to drink Gatorade I would have to say orange would be my choice.

When I worked at the golf course/ice arena, the majority of the golfers and skaters drank the blue gatorade. I've never tasted it.

Do you like bananas? You might also try them. About twenty years ago my mom, sister, and I were gone, and my dad came home from playing basketball with the church league. After a while, he doubled over in pain, the cramps in his legs were unbearable. He called the then girlfriend of his best friend (they have since married), and she told him to eat a banana. She is a physical therapist. And it worked. I guess it was the potassium from what she told my dad. Good for you for thinking of that gatorade.

Hi Jill, did the dr. not give u potassium to take w/your water pill. They did me. If the gatorade is working that's a good thing. I don't like gatorade or many other drinks. About all i drink is a little coffee, a whole lot of ice tea & a diet cola every once in awhile. I'm glad it's working for u.

I don't know what cointaines the Gatorade but i know what causes those horible cramps. When you take does pills, wich helps you to eliminate the excess fluid in your body with the water goes some minerals. so your body has lets say craving for them - it needs to function normaly. so you can solve this problem by takeing minerals like: calcium and potassium, and magnezium, and others.

Really? Wow! How cool!! I'll have to pass that information on to my dad because he's on fluid pills too because of diabetes. The shots he has to take have a lot of protein in them and caused him to gain a lot of weight that's mostly fluid. He hasn't mentioned having any leg cramps but I'll still pass that information on to him! Thanks!!

I don't know if Gatorade is good for you if you have high blood pressure jillhill. You might want to check that out because of the sodium content. I don't want anything happening to our little jillhill. It is good for re-hydrating but your water pill is trying to reduce the sodium that makes you retain water around the heart, unless I'm wrong on that. I've never had it, I drink enough stuff during the day, including water. I only get foot cramps once in a while but it's usually when I'm on my feet a long, long time. I use to work 12 hour days and then it would occur sometimes.

I drink Gatorade when I am still into sports. So I could replenish the lost fluid. I like Grapes, that is my favorite flavor because I like grapes(the fruit) too.lol. I drink one too when I feel like drinking one. I'm happy that it has helped you. Then continue drinking one, so you won't feel the pain.

Hi JillHill, Thanks for the tip. I work on my Tuesday and Wednesday and Friday and for about 8 hours with very little breaks this my night time part time work. I heard Gatarade amy do this and I am glad you tested it and it works. My boyfriend works 10 hour shift 4 days a week there on the press and he get severe leg and ankle cramps and toes. Is there any floavour that taste half way decent. I did try the yellow and green but too medicineney for me or not fruity enough. I will try these again. Thanks and have a great day! Sincerely Unique16

I like the grape flavor. I like drinking Gatorade after exercising because Gatorade provides good source of carbs to help replenish glycogen and electrolytes lost through sweating.

yes i am drinking gatorade..but if you wanna get rid of your cramps even without taking anything, all you have to do is sit down on a flat surface then extend your legs while pulling your feet towards you..gatorade usually contain minerals that same component of our body..too much of it can cause some problems..
