My first computer was actually put in the living room in my house and there is no absolute privacy and noisy by the tv radio switch by my parents, i guess it is more of showoff the guests that visit the house, in my working place the pc station is right infront of the supervisor so there is no lacking off, now after ten years finally my pc in my room and have full privacy can even be in underwear browsing and doing stuffs. So people even have their PC inside your their room.Where is your PC desktop located now?In the living room?Bedroom?Study room? Do it effect your work?

our first desktop was placed in the living room... i think the reason for this was just as you mentioned, for showing off. :) a few years ago, i bought another desktop and it placed inside my room. i don't like to share my pc with anyone. i liked it here inside my room, i could do whatever i want with it and i can really concentrate with what i'm doing. now all i have is my laptop and i always have it beside me where ever i go.

I have the computers in the study which used to be my garage so there is enough room for three desks and three PC's and often they are all used at once by various members of the family. When I first bought my house there was just the sitting room to work in and the disruption from the TV made it very difficult to work. Now the house has grown over the years and it is a pleasure to work in the study in peace and quiet.

My room doubles as the computer room. I can shut my door and not be disturbed, well at least for the most part. There are times where I wish my door locked from the inside, but what can you do. Still, in my room, is perhaps the best place. The second best place would be upstairs, because hardly anyone goes there, its mostly storage, but I would have to go all the way downstairs to go to the bathroom while its just located next door. There are times where my work can be effected slightly. But hey, that's what doors are for. They can be shut and I can get on with my life from there. I think if I had a room without a door or the computer room was an open space like a living room, then there might be a problem. I'm really glad that it's in the privacy of my own room. That way, I can get everything done without getting bothered for the most part.

Hi! Our PC is in the living room but now I'm thinking of putting it in my room, lol. You are right work is affected when the PC is in the living room. I do transcription and the noise just gets to me, plus there's no privacy. Thanks for your discussion, now I'm moving my PC.

You can put your pc anywhere you want, just that the pc need to be in a open place, with not much humidity, where there not very hot, because of those thing the performance can be affected and your pc can me damaged phisically.

Sharp object may be able to sent thro shipping - Sharp object maybe not be allowed in hand carrier lunguage
yes it true, the PC casing should be also not touching the floor if possible, because when mopping the floor the wet water may disturb the electronic stuffs inside, the back of the pC contain fans for cooling the cpu should not be blocked and made sure it is clean from and dusts accumulation.Made sure the pC is in dry but airy place yet it is dry. Made sure there is no electrastic discharge from the pc, if there is then something thing is wrong .

Hello there I used to leave my PC at my bedroom , which is also my bedroom ,, so I have full privacy and I can do anything I want and no one will bother me ,, sometimes it used to affect my studying but later I made benefit from that by reading stuff from internet instead of wasting my time

We had our pc in living room because i shared it with my sister but she got her own a few years ago so i have my pc in my room and that's way better because i have my piece this way. I actually have it on my desk so it's like half of meter away from my head which is bad but i changed the fans and bought some additional ones so that my pc isn't that loud anymore. Being supervised when working would mean you'd probably do more but i don't like it that way

If you're desktop PC is connected to a network, you should not put it more than a 100 meter away from the server. Long cables tend to weaken network connections. Now if it is a home computer. You can place it anywhere. Just make sure it is well ventilated.

My computer is actually located on the living room. And I do hate it because there is no privacy. I cannot always do my chatting with my friends because my parents keep on looking on what I am doing on the pc. I hope I will be able to have my own pc to put on my room. That way, I could really do all my stuffs in private.

ya nowsday PC has become entertainment , work and multimedia station where a person can do work , reseach work , use music , watch tv listen to radio and such using PC alone with the correct hardware. Maybe you should sell the pc and buy a notebook to be used in your personal room or safe money to get a new pc.

What kind of performance? I have my own laptop and I always work inside my room. And you're right, there is a complete privacy and I also even work in my undies. Our PC is situated right now in the living room and I use it before I got my own laptop. Yeah I don't have privacy there, and you have your family looking at what you're doing. But I find that it's really advantageous to my work because I'm always on my toes and I don't get sleepy. In my room, I get to sleep a lot and it makes me feel lazy, thus, preventing me from doing a lot of work. I personally believe in privacy with my work and it kinda annoys me that people look at what I'm doing. But come to think of it, at least we're always alert because we don't want them to tell us that we're not using the computer and boot us out of the chair.

I placed my personal computer in my room. Yes of course it will really affects your performance when all the people in your house wants to try your computer or try to plays some games in your computer whenever you do your homework or studying. And for me it's better to put it in my room so no one can used it, not because I just don't want to share my computer but to make sure that my computer is still okay when I open it and do some works.
