I am a nurse and is currently unemployed..as much as i want to apply in other countries aside from the Middle East.., I am left with no choice here.. It's expensive and takes a long time to get a job in other pastures.. A friend of mine texted me and invited me to join an initial interview for an urgent hiring for nurses for Jeddah.., My boyfriend does not want me to go because.., it is a common knowledge here in our country that Overseas Filipino Workers in the Middle East are said to be harassed.,. Please.. no offense meant for people from the Middle East.. I have never been there and I cannot testify how true are the allegations.. Please provide insights and advices..Thanks..=)

I think it's safe to work in Jedah Saudi Arabia. My friend has been working there for almost 2 years. It all depends on the people surrounding you. If you plan to work as a nurse in a hospital, I do not see anything wrong or dangerous about it. As long as you keep a low profile, avoid being noticed by others and of course pray a lot. But if you have another choice, I would suggest you to stay here in the Philippines and work. Why dont you try medical transcription? I know a friend who works at home as a medical transcriptionist. She earns atleast 8000 Philippine peso in a week. You have a medical background, it would be easy for you to qualify.

If you ask me, I cannot recommend you to work there, Much better in Dubai I think..
And much much better if you work in UK,, But it so expensive of applying for work there, beside UK government don't issue working permit as of now.. The only way you can go there to work is applying for a student visa.. But as far as I know, You have to pay around 300-500k Php.. I know coz I worked in recruitment agency in makati..

I have two friends who live over there and they are quiet nice. However, if you head that Filipino workers were harassed, were there any reasons? i know that here in Canada, Quebec, nurses are really needed. There are alot of old people here and nurses aren't enough. I hear it on the news all the time. Doctors are so scarce that a new law has been made. A nurse that worksfor a certain amount of years can serve CERTAIN medication to patients to help out the doctors a little. Good luck for your futur job
