I've heard people addressing communities as Ladies n' Gentlemen. For MEN they put the Prefix GENTLE, but left the Ladies plainly..... i Wonder Why ?????

But, that's not the only definition of lady. It's also a courteous way to refer to them. Think of the times of knights. Ladies were women of high birth or social class. A lady is a woman of refinement and elegance. But, it seems that words that are meant to refer to women with respect get used by some in a common way. Like the word 'dame' which is the female equivalent to being a knight (from my understanding). Where men are "sir" this, women are "dame" this. But, dame is also can be a less refined way to speak of them. But, it wasn't meant to be.
Ladies, at least when used in the term "Ladies and gentlemen" is basically the female form of gentlemen. When used properly, it's a perfectly respectful form of address.

I accept that there is no term other than lady to address a woman.Gentle before man is added whereas there is no such term for a lady. But being called a lady is a respectful sign is what i feel. The reason being if one were not respectful they would use some other crass term.I do acknowledge they ought to put an adjective before the lady like noble etc.

hahahah good question, actually i think we men are not always gentle in the communities and in my view we are the onle who try to stop any discussion. For instance if you are in a classroom the guys are the one who will make more disturbance than girls.
In the office or any other social gathering men are always searching a point to comment on the speaker to gain attention i guess!
