At last we are having a couple of nice days, and it coincides with the visit of my daughter and her three children. With seven of us it means that we are not all able to go out in the car so we are making our own entertainment around our home. Yesterday we had a lovely day on the canal at the back of my garden, I have enclosed a picture of my daughter, son and granddaughter on the kayak. It is so easy to have a good time without spending a fortune, don't you agree!!

Before i didn't recognize the simple things in my life but when i started to grow old i realize that every little things matter. We should be thankful on what we have and enjoy every moment before its gone.We have short lives to appreciate the world.

You are so right, I think the saying that youth is wasted on the youth is very true at times!! It is only as we get on in years a bit that you realise just what joys there are in these simple pleasures.

I agree with you. sometimes people just neglect too much opportunities that is laid out before us whenever there are times that families can get together... and yes, even without spending a fortune. for us, we would really enjoy our time together, chatting at home and watching tv series and movies, with a box of pizza (this usually happens on a weekend) and i think just the time that we all have not going out but rather choosing to be at home in itself is a simple pleasure for us!! :D

Looking out of the window this morning the sun is shining, the birds are singing and my garden is looking healthy - simple pleasures like this I think we take for granted.

Homegown fun is often the best. Money does not buy happiness, or memories, usually. I think it is neat that you have a place nearby to use the kayak. We go to a lake to canoe.

I agree with you. I often take pleasure in simple things, specially when I'm alone. Unfortunately, I am surrounded by people who think otherwise. I can't seem to understand why they want to spend, sometimes I think just for the sake of spending. This has cause a lot of stress for me. And maybe that's why appreciate simpler things a lot more.

Yeah, i think my kids and enjoy more when we have to take a picnic outside the house or in the nearby river. I can see them enjoying the running and showering splash outside, they like barbecuing and making a mess of themselves.

I couldn't agree more. My family barely use any money to spend time on weekends. Like your daughter, we prefer to visit my parents or my husband parents so they get the chance to see their grandchildren. It's an important thing for my children so they always remember where they came from, and learn the family value.

First of all, what a beautiful family! My family always finds stuff to do that costs little to no money. There is so much to do that doesn't cost much to do and even attractions that are free. My theory is why spend money when you are suppose to be spending time with your family. Even when we go on vacations we don't spend a lot of money on tourist attractions, we find stuff to do that is free.
