Wipeout (and does anyone have TV show parties for special TV events)

Wipeout is a show that I believe is on in several different countries, in several different languages. If you have never seen it, you can go to hulu.com and catch several episodes (abc.com probably too). It regularly runs on ABC, I think on Tuesday nights. When I want to laugh, I watch Wipeout. So far no one has gotten hurt (at least on the USA version, I don't know about the others), so laughing at these people seems okay to me. I mean they know doing all of these stunts, they'll be looking silly.
I would love to be on that show. I told my dad that and he gave me a look and said, "What, are you looking for something to finish you off?" (For those of you who don't know me, I'm on disability.) Anyway, the big balls they have to jump on to get across to the other side is my favorite part of the course. For those of you who don't know the show, you have to compete with a lot of contestants, in several rounds (so they can whittle the contestants down to four for the end obstacle course) to ultimately win $50,000. I just love this show. Last week I even had a Wipeout party. I invited a couple of people over, and we watched three episodes of Wipeout while snacking on some things I had made. We had such a good time, and we definitely laughed.
Do you watch the show, and if you do, would you go on it? Even if they didn't pay me, I would love to try it. People do end up looking silly, but I think it would be worth it to win $50,000. I mean it isn't like they have to eat anything weird. It's just good 'ol wacky fun.
Also, have you ever had any parties to watch something on TV? I remember people talking about having LOST parties when the finale aired this past spring.

We not only watch the show, we always tape it. We have several episodes on our PVR right now. I've seen them all but not sure my kids have. We do love the show.
As for people getting hurt, I'm pretty darn sure they do but they just don't show it. There would be a lot of editing because some of the events take forever to do.
They are doing what I consider to be a children's version of Wipeout here in Canada, just outside the small I live in. Something about the kids storming a castle, fighting off the defenders in order to get the crown. A farmer loaned his land out (probably rented) for them to do this. They start filming next week and.... yes, my 14 year old daughter is going to be a contestant! Unfortunately, we, the parents, are not allowed to stay and watch. We'll just have to wait until it airs on television in the spring. Maybe we'll have a party then, but we don't usually have tv viewing parties. I'm not that sociable. We're pretty excited about it. My daughter is competing on September 24th.

This is one of my favorite shows! It just makes me laugh so hard (and yes, no one gets hurt so its ok), but the camera shots are awesome! I sit here literally crying from laughing so much. And the commentators are so funny with the comments they make, it's hysterical.
Would I go on it? Maybe if I was 20 years younger but I don't think they're going to pick a 63 year old to do these stunts...although that might make it even more funnier, LOL!
I don't even have a favorite stunt, I like them all, and its a nice way to end the evening with a good laugh. Sure beats watching the rotten bad news about everyone killing everybody.

hi ambiepam no I have never given a TV party or even been to one
and did not see this wipeout either. It does sound like it would
be fun to watch,.I would do silly stuff too if the prize was
50,000 dollars. wow that's a lot of money. Maybe I can get someone
to let me watch the program here. lol.

I haven’t seen Wipeout but I have heard of it and it does sound like fun! A Wipeout party is a great idea! I had a party many, many years ago when I was single and lived on my own. I threw a Melrose party. My girlfriends came over and we ate, drank and enjoyed Melrose Place! It was such fun; we all loved that show! It ended up becoming a regular thing; every Tuesday night we would take it in turns to host a Melrose night!

I LOVE that show! I think sometimes the people on there are so insane but it is so funny! I would go on it but I am sure I wouldn't win any money!
I have had a True Blood party before and a Gossip Girl premiere party! I know they seem to be completely different but I like a wide variety of things! Plus get togethers are always fun if you ask me.

I rarely watch TV, but I know this show because my son loves it. I never have a party or been to one, but I know that if I could offer, my son would be thrilled to have a "Wipeout" party..

I am not sure if I have actually ever heard of wipeout or not. You make me want to go look and find some video clips of the show if nothing else. It kind of in a way make me think of XE I believe is the name of it. I think it airs on Spike Tv and is a show with contestants who do obstacle courses, the narration is in Japanese or Chinese but I don't remember if the people who compete are japanese or chinese. It's a funny show.
As for parties, no can't say I've had a marathon party or anything like that though I believe in HS friends and I have watched a few episodes of our favorite show.

Hiya Ambie,
Now that is a good idea and original. I don´t know anyone here who does this there maybe as we have had that Series on the Television too in Spanish of course. But it did not take very well for some reason.
I did think that one in particular was very cruel in his remarks to one of the Spaniards but that is about all I did enjoy watching it while I could mainly to see what it was about.
I quite like it but I don´t think it will come back for quite a while.
Although I don´t have parties like that I do think of having or making a special meal and sit down to watch the Television if there is a great Film going to be on. More or less like you do at Christmas.

I have never seen Wipeout, but I've heard of it. I don't think that I would ever want to participate on it.
The only party I've ever held was a SuperBowl party, but back in the day, my friends and I got together to watch Beverly Hills 90210.
