IQ as we all know it is Intelligence Quotient, its the intelligence you acquire presently divided by the intelligence possessed by people in your chronological age x 100, if you have an IQ of 100, you are within normal to your chronological age.IF you scored 140 or more ... you are a genius! Emotional quotient is the emotional growth we acquire outside of the academe... this is street smart, it is continuing and is basically fueled by personal experiences or your mentors.
For me, Emotional quotient is far more important than IQ.. to survive and thrive comfortably in the real world.. one should have a good 80% : 20% ..EQ:IQ ratio in terms of intellect... this shows that the more important things in life are learned outside of school..
What do you think about this? Which do you think is more important to you? What are your opinions?

iq may seem important in the past few years, but i think eq is getting important than iq now. if you are looking for a job, in the interview section, the interviewer is more concern about our eq. the working culture has been changed from single-manage team to team building to perform the work task. a company needs someone who is able to control their emotion and communicate with others to achieve better result. if a person has higher eq, he can survive in a company for longer period. high iq but nor well in communication doesn't help for a person to success.

Its better to have a greater EQ THAN YOUR IQ.Here Is the little trick and twist in this discussion try to compute the percentage of KNOWLEDGE and ATTITUDE b simply correspond each letter to alphabetical ranking example K-11,in the alphabet,N-14.Do the rest and you will find out the result that the attitudes goes toward than the knowledge.

To me what is important is the "morality quotient". Having an "intellect" without a moral base is useless. Knowledge must be tempered with wisdom.
As to the notion of "emotional" quotient, I'm thinking you mean more spiritual qualities, like "having a good heart", meaning kindness, compassion, and dealing with people fairly and lovingly. Head "knowledge" and heart "knowledge" can be very different.
Scripture says we are to acquire wisdom, discernment, and common sense.
None of these must come from what we call a "formal education". In fact, given the state of our educational "systems" today, we can learn very little, even academically, much less wisdom, discernment, and other character qualities necessary to living a good and wholesome life.
Students are being indoctrinated into political correctness, which has its base in Marxist word and thought manipulation, economic satiety, and everything secular, all of which are the opposite of "good and wholesome" and are a clear and present danger, as well as evidence of our moral decay.

i agree with you that EQ is having more importance than IQ.
Actually EQ includes many things. But dear I don't think that so called 'street smart' is the right word and the ratio you have mentioned might fluctuate.
In the corporate world if you have high EQ, it will pay you in long term. YOu will be able to adjust with the social and emotional turbulence quickly and smartly.

I understand what you trying to say. Both are extremely important, but as you know IQ is almost nothing without EQ or street smarts right? I also believe EQ is better in that relation. However, Einstein had an IQ of about 180 so it is difficult to win that argument. But then there are other people who have high IQs of 190 but work at bars..
But overall I think IQ is just a number and should be correlated to everyone differently. Some people categorize people based on their IQ, but I believe one's achievement in life really matter.
What do you think?
You know since intelligence can vary from culture to culture.
