Have you ever tried to make a homemade pizza and it was a flop

When I was younger and my hubby and I were really stretching money and groceries, we tried to make a pizza with the pizza mix crust, ketchup instead of sauce, American cheese and bologna. Looking back now I can laugh at that adventure. If you haven't tried it, don't. It tastes really bad. We ended up throwing it outside for the animals and they would not even eat it. That night we ate ramen noodles instead. Have you ever tried to be creative when making a pizza and it totally flopped? Tell me your pizza stories. :)

That sounds good but I have never really made dough from scratch. I wouldn't know how to go about it. Even if I make a homemade crust, I use bisquick or jiffy mix lol. That is something mom never taught me.

I have been there and done that. The crust is really doughy if you don't let it cook long enough and it doesn't taste good at all. We have ordered out before too after having a pizza flop.

when i was a litte kid, i tried making pizza with a slice of bread. it will only work with ketchup if you use american chesse and use chicken as a topping, it actually didnt come out pretty bad! i also love making the crust myself, from scratch, (remember that im 13) , and then putting marinara sauce and mozzerella chesse!! 10x better than pizza hut!! :D

Hey I love ketchup. but on pizza oh I just can imagine it being so great as I would have been just like your dog and sniffed and run away.
I have used ketchup in spaghetti though and yuck, yuck it was horrible. I suppose it has to with heating the ketchup that then makes it taste really yucky.

I love ketchup too but I never tried it in spaghetti. I think I will stay away from it in spaghetti too lol. As you said it doesn't taste good heated.

I tried making homemade pizza once before as a child. I don't have the necessary ingredients to make one so I ended up using a slice of bread as my pizza base. I used ketchup as well and for the toppings, well, I just put together whatever I could find lying around in the refrigerator. After that I placed the "pizza" in the toaster but it ended up getting slightly burnt. It was still edible though since it tasted kinda good when I tried it. XD

I am glad yours was edible because ours sure was not. I don't think ketchup works too well as a sauce. It is meant to be used for dipping. The combination that we tried was bad because American cheese is oily and the ketchup was sweet but the bologna is salty. I learned from that though :)

I have, I've made it several times. The problem with mine is that it was a square and the crust was never as good as those take out places. I made homemade crusts. It turned out okay. I've used ketchup before too when I ran out of tomato sauce but I added some salt and seasonings to make it level out. Browned some breakfast sausage too once to place on and I used regular onions instead of red onions. I've never gotten too creative. I always had Mozzarella cheese in the house from WIC so I never used American. Next time if you're in a pinch you can use tortillas for the crust.
