Yes it can be and for a my friend Lori it is really hiting home! Here is the story of Lori and husband Geoff.
Lori and Geoff have been together like 12 years and both meet each other after their divorces. They had been living togehter for like 7 years. They finally went to the local Justice of the Peace in May and got married! Everything was going well until a few weeks ago. Goeff got sick and the doctors thought it was probaly walking pnemonia. After doing some more tests, taking a lot of fluid out of the lungs and one lung collapsed they finally found out what was really going on! Goeff is in stage 4 cancer and it sounds like thye really can't do anything for him! Lori is trying to except this right now and has taken leave from work. I have not talked to her since the diagnose was told. I will talk to her in a day or two. I heard from other friends she is doing better then expected! I'm still in shock since I found out!
Geoff has been s heavy smoker for years and Lori smokes, too. Not as bad but it still isn't good! A few years ago Lori tried to stop smoking and hoped Geoff would to. It didn't work and now this is happening! I hope Lori will give up smoking now and the rest of my friends who do and always say they will! Somking is a terrible habit! I know it is hard to break! I have seen friends quit but only after trying more then once! I wish no one smoked! Thank goodness I never have! So all you smokers out in Mylot land, this might be a good time to quit, forever!

I am not a smoker but I have problem with my father. Even though his physician advise him to stop and have a lot of medicines. Their times he show to us that he already stop but when a friend smoke in front of him. he could not resist to smoke again. So really hard to control the addiction. I don't like the bad effects of smoking really takes a threat on everyone health even a second hand smoking creates a lot of illnesses not even to the smoker itself but also to the people surround him. The smoker would not really know their lesson unless they already have a disease. That is a hard lesson they earn if they remain hard headed. This discussion is a wake up call and I do hope other learn too their lesson to change their habit before its too late.

You are right. Smoking just doesn't affect the smoker but the people around them! I have seen alot of friends try to stop smoking. Some it was reaaly hard and it took a few attempts before they did! I hope this is a wake up call to my friends who still smoke!

Give Lori my best! Tell Geoff to fight the good fight. I have heard that quitting smoking is Real hard. But like everything else , it is up to the person to Want to quit. If they are not ready , they won't quit for good. I hope Lori quis too but I won't be surprised if she doesn't, not yet anyway. I know you are her friends will give her the support she needs When she is ready. But you can't forc a person to quit.

I'm sorry about your friend. Only Lori can decide if she wants to quit though. But if she does decide, I hope she's successful.
