I got a job offer, But after reading the contract that they want me to sign I did not like some details on the contract. So I did not sign. I was thinking since I did not sign I am not in anyway obligated to follow the contract stipulations. Am I right?

You are definitely not obligated! It is only when you have signed the contract that it can be presented as a evidence that you have not done your part of the deal.

I got this job offer through a job hunter. the job hunter called me to check the status, I said that the details that they discussed with me were different from the offer that I got and the some details were added and omitted. They asked me about it and told them the offer to me and confirmed that this was not disclosed to them. Was I right in discussing this with them?

You were definitely right in discussing the contents of the contract. There is nothing wrong. Since a contract is a written document of two individuals or parties that have the same interest.

Yes I agree with diogz22 that the contract must be agreed upon both parties. Who would in their right mind sign to a one sided contract right? So you have done nothing wrong. You have just told them what are your demands for the contract and if they cannot comply with it, it's really up to you whether you will still agree with the contract or not.

Yes you will not be obligated because you won't get hired if you don't sign it.

Definitely you are not obligated to follow the terms of the contract. You can ask them to revise what is written and if they will agree, then that's the time you accept the contract. By the way, you are not obligated because if you will not sign the contract then they will not hire you anyway.

You could have an agreement that regarding the details of the contract. If you think it does not favor you or the statement gives a false impression the you could have asked it removed from the contract. Definitely the contract is void and meaningless since only one party signed the written document. You are definitely not oblige to follow the contract stipulations. Which means you didn't accepted the job offer.
