What was your life changing experience?

One day I had a panic attack and that changed my life forever. I realized how I was leading a life that I really didn't want but getting an attack made me realize that I need to make new changes. I am completely different now and it's been a good and bad change all in one. Have you had a life changing event happen in your life to change you into a whole new person? How different are you now?

I've had several life changing experiences. I had a blackout/stare moment when I wasn't taking great care of myself. I realized that right then and there that I needed to change and improve. I've had panic attacks that gave me insight to what could happen if I didn't do something about it. And just recently I was diagnosed with a kidney infection that's making me realize again that I need to keep improving on how I take care of myself. I would say that although they haven't been particularly fun moments in my life, I can definitely say that they have been positive. And I think slowly all these positive moments are changing me into something better.

Yes, sometimes things can change our lives. I also ever experienced it. A major incident occurred, and because of this incident, my life has now become greatly changed. I am very grateful for this, I became aware of my mistakes and try to become a better person.

I used to suffer from depression, which meant that I hardly ever left the flat- and because of that never had any money or quaifications or any prospects in life. One day, I woke up and just thought "what on Earth am I doing?" I realised that I was wasting my whole life, and I was going to have to make something of it soon. So, I did my GCSEs, A Levels, got a bit of work experience, and now I am studying for a Psychlogy BSc degree in University. I am so pleased with what I have acheived. I have completed one full year at university, and have two more left. After that, I am hoping to complete an MSc in Psychological Research Methods.. and after that, who knows? But I am so pleased with myself. A couple of years ago, I would have never thought that I would have been able to be in this position today. But, I am, and I am very proud of that.

Hi Greenteab7, I'm great, thanks! That sounds like a very good and healthy experience. I'd like to travel and find myself in another country too.

Hi. I used to get upset and worked up for small matters and create a big fuss over small issues. And I kept ignoring my health for a very long time. I was very much stressed all the time. But now I have started getting serious health issues and most of them are because of stress. That changed my outlook on things and now I don't get upset that easily. I take it easy now and am concentrating on improving my health. my goal is to make myself a healthier person in about a year's time.

Having my daughter changed my life in so many ways. Having a child changes your perspective on just about everything. I suddenly started disliking unhealthy things, and understanding my mother. I have to say that every single change has been positive. I know how a panic attack can change your life to. I ended up in the hospital because of one once..I thought I was having a stroke! It did definitely change my life in both good and bad ways. Before the panic attack I didn't really know how miserable I was, and how much I had been stuffing down. Our bodies have a way of telling us things. Thanks for starting this thread. it's a useful one!

Hi Zionsphere, Thanks for the nice comment and I'm glad you had created a wonderful child to make you proud. It's also nice to read that you know what it's like to have a panic attack too. I didn't know how miserable I was either!

Hi there Lore 2009! I'm glad that your life changing experience resulted to something positive. Mine, too. My life changing experience was when I became a mother. I never thought I would ever be able to love unconditionally but everytime I think or look at my son, there's no doubt now that I do and I will forever.

Yes, I have.. Unfortunately, someone I loved dearly left this world in an unforgettable way.. It made me realize that I should focus on others just as much as I focus on myself..
