Last night we were lucky enough to have a new family member join our family. He is so cute and weighs next to nothing. He is white with brown little spots all over him and he loves to cuddle and snuggle. Strange for a dog usually when they are puppies they want to chew everything in site that includes who ever is reachable. He is a mix between a Chihuahua and a Dauhshund so he is very small and very low to the ground. I was worried that he would have problems with the stairs in our house but he fly's up and down them. The only problem that we have had so far is my poor cats. I dont think they like me any more well one in particular. He has not come out of his hiding spot other than to eat and use the litter box hissing the whole time. The other cat follows the puppy around sniffing him then hissing at him as she walks by him almost as if she is telling him that she is the queen of this roost. I know that they will all eventually get along as when we introduced the female cat to the house my cat Rocky would not come out for lovin for days. Have you ever had a pet that did not like the new pet that you got. What did you do to make them get along? Here is a pic of my daughter and our newest family member. The vet says mojo will not get much bigger. Really just a little lap dog.

Hi Autumnrose, and welcome Mojo!
Don't worry because he didn't start to chew things arround. He's just settling in. Let us know if he won't chew anything in a few days!
If he has Dachshund blood in his veins, he might have a long spine like Dachshunds have. If so, please be carefull with the stairs. He might fly up and down the stairs, but climbing stairs is not good for his back. Short legged dogs with long spine can suffer back injuries frequently. I think it would be better if you limit his access to the stairs.

He is chewing its just on the things he is supposed to chew on his bones and what not. He does not seem to be extremly long so I am not to worried about the stairs. At least not at this time, and to be honest, with my daughter around he never has to walk up the stairs he gets carried quite a bit him being a little slip of a thing she has been babying him and he really seems to enjoy it. Funny little guy wants to be held and has to have you touching him when he sleeps or he will get up and move closer. I think that he is a perfect match for my daughter. She is really loving him and I think its a mutual thing.

I have been begging my husband to get us a dog for a long time now and he always said no. When I found this little guy however I knew he would not be able to refuse. I am so happy that we found him and now he is a part of our family.

I have not had a dog since I was a child. So its been many years for me. He really seems to be blending in well with the rest of the family. He falls asleep in my daughters arm's and sleeps with her through the night. He wont get up out of the bed till she does. Its really cute. I am really enjoying all the cute things that he does and he seems so smart. He is a joy to play with and to watch as he plays.

Congratulations on your new puppy. He is just adorable. When I brought home an old cat who had been abandoned my dog dig not have a problem with him, however, the old cat had a problem with my dog. He would hiss at my dog as she walked by, and she being the good natured dog she was just kind of let it go for the first few days then she gave it back to him. She didn't bite him or anything but she let him know in no uncertain terms that she didn't like his attitude. Then they just kind of put up with each other, they were never friends, but the co-existed. I think a little spoiling of the cats for a few days will help. Get them each a new toy and pay lots of extra attention to them so they know they are not being replaced in your heart.

I'm glad to hear you have an extension to the family.
When i would get new animals, i would experience the same issue, but with time they eventually get used to one another.
But unfortunately I bought a rabbit one time and my cat scarred it.. giving it a heart attack.. oh wells..

Oh that's so sad. I would have been heart broke. I have been making time for all of my animals so that they don't have to compete with each other for attention. So far it seems to be working.
