I'd get him a new tackle box and/or lures. Since lures can be expensive...maybe two or three. Hope that helps...

i agree lures would be a good idea or some new flies if he fly fishes, the man at the store can tell you what to buy for what season if he fly fishes also if he wears a hat when fishing..spiderwire.com has a great ball cap for fishing 17.00 , or maybe some new line, you can get line at wal-mart from 6 bucks up. or a fishing vest with all the pockets would be great. im thinkin colorado ? maybe a new trout net,

How about a new coat, hat or suit for fishing, the one that has the millions pocket and add the accesories with it... He might like it...and planned a little fishing picnic with the other relatives and everyone is required to fish...whether they know how or not... And then you father in law would be deciding who caught the nicest, biggest or smallest fish...and some other wacky categories like the one who caught the boots, or got a flat tire.. (^^,)

Maybe he would read a fishing magazine? Or an outdoor sporting magazine? Maybe a subscription would be good.

Hiya laglen, Things I have found are just above twenty dollars here is one a Backpack trail light it costs 29.99 Dollars and its on Nextag in the Fishing Gear Section. I also thought of some Frogg Toggs but they are at least 39.99 on the same page almost. Boots are really expensive and he might not want those. Another one is a Marlin Flip Flop and they cost 22 something Dollars. Scotty Powerlock Rod Holder this is a good price and it has a side deck mount cost is from 19 Dollars to 25 Dollars depending it´s fibre reinforced offering strong resilience. That´s it I have enjoyed wading through those pages I have not been fishing for ages either but I like too. Hope you find him a good present.

Buy him a swiss knife. It is fancy, and the same time very useful for guys like your old ex father in law.

Depending on what he needs..tackle box, lures, maybe even a gift certificate to his fave bait shop? Yeah..that would be the best idea..gift certificate. He can then use it on new lures, bait, pole, or whatever else he needs there. :-)

I believe gift cards are the most practical. You could get him a gift card to somewhere like Bass Pro Shops if you have one nearby, that seems like a store he'd like since you said he likes to fish and he could use it to pick out something he would like. Other than that I find it very difficult to choose a gift for someone who doesn't need or want much. You could also do something like a plant or a fruit basket.

Get him something he could use for fishing. Like a set or something. Or a new fishing rod. That will make him really happy and that will be really useful for him because like what you said, he likes fishing.
