Yesterday we ordered a pizza in one of the famous pizza restaurant chain here in our country. They are the one that has a policy that when its late it should be free. And guess what. It came late. They should arrived 45 minutes after my call ended but it came almost 30 minutes late. I really don't want to pay but I realized that the delivery guy might be the one that will shoulder this one. So I just asked him why he's late and of course scold him but I still pay. But if it happens again I will no longer order from them.
Have you experienced this one? And did you also pay?

This has also happened to me, but they did give us some more free pizzas so I guess it was good I think that maybe the ones who deliver the pizzas sometimes get lost and maybe that's why they arrive late, but oh well, but yeah policy is policy and that's how it goes because cold pizza never tastes good you always want it to be fresh and hot so it is ready to eat yummy I love pizza.

If the company offers free pizza if the delivery arrive late then they should give it free after all it's their promotion. The pizza house should not offer it in the first place if they can't guarantee that it will arrive in time. let's say that you are very hungry and you really want pizza but it arrive too late and you already eat something.
Sometimes their promotion is not right. Anyways you are very kind to pay for it even if it is already late. You are after the delivery guys welfare which is very kind of you. Just not happen to me yet.

whatever was his reason for being late.., it's bad customer service.., and i know that the pizza company will not tolerate that.., but if i were in your situation.., i will do the same thing.., I wouldn't want that delivery boy ending up paying my orders..,with their meager salary.., i'm sure they would be disappointed if it will get deducted.., but i will scold them too.., it's better than having salary deductions right? =)

This happened to me before. We had called after it was the late and the manager said the driver was suppose to be here over 20 minutes prior. He said he would contact the driver and if he wasn't there within so many minutes that I needed to call back and it would be free. I waited a few minutes longer than I should before I called back and I was calling just as they showed up. It made me upset and I know it had to have been the drivers fault. I should've demanded my money back but I didn't. I didn't feel nearly as bad because the drivers boss at least knew that he was late and it was his fault, I assumed that the driver would hear it when he got back to work. I probably still should've asked for the money back.

You're referring to pizza hut right? I have also experienced receiving my order way pass the 45-minute deadline that after that time, the delivery is on them. I don't know why they still let you pay but mine was different. I still paid them for what I ordered but as a complement, they gave me an additional pizza. My memory of its size is hazy now. But I really am sure I got another pizza for not being able to deliver before the 45-minute deadline as to speak. Deliveries can really take longer than expected not just in Pizza hut. (Offtopic)In fact, I scolded the dispatcher from Chowking yesterday because it took em more than an hour to deliver what I ordered because he didn't listen well when I told him my damn address. To top it off, I didn't checked right away what I ordered when the delivery guy gave it to me. As I checked it out, it was not what I ordered. I was so mad . I called them right away and babbled my frustrations out.
Have a nice day.

Hi Juggerogre,
Actually, just the other day my daughter ordered a grinder and was told that it would be here within 30 minutes. 40 minutes go by and we get a call saying that the guy did not have our apartment #. Now we have ordered from this place before and I had given the girl taking the order our apartment# 3 times. She was having lots of trouble it seemed even taking the order and kept repeating it back to me wrong. My daughter had to be to work shortly and was ready to take back the tip when the guy called. I talked her out of it because I could see clearly that this was probably the fault of the girl who was taking the orders. Still, even after the guy called, it took him yet another 25 minutes to arrive with the grinder. It had extra mayo on it as well as pickles so it was pretty soggy. My daughter did take away about half of his tip because not only was it soggy but she had less than 10 minutes to eat it before running off to work. In your situation, I would call and tell the manager what happened. Your pizza was probably cold by the time it finally arrived. Maybe you will get your next one for free??

Policy based, you should not pay, for them to know they need to get better in the business. If they are the law maker, they shouldn't be a law breaker. On the contrary, they would not implement this policy if they are not sure they can make it. Another thing, the delivery boy was for sure very well aware of their policy and it would be him to blame. We never know what's behind his being late. If it is the companies fault, he could never tell you either, for it will caused him in trouble or worst, lost his job.
May be, It this will happen to me, I will pay it, then call the company to inform that it was late, if in case it's their fault, atleast they're informed. On the part of the delivery boy, just to let him be reminded of their policy and tell him the next time it will happen again, I will never pay.

Nobody likes to eat a cold pizza. When we order a pizza to be delivered, we expect it to to arrive when it is promised to be. If i order a pizza and it is late the company better have a great excuse as to why my pizza is now late and cold. This happened to me a time or two but it was winter and the road conditions were not the greatest. there have also been a few times where no excuse was given. what is irritating is the fact that you are still paying. Let's just say that delivery driver didn't get a tip.

It's understandable how you felt, but the company hired their employees believing that they will get the job done in the time limit given to them.
You cannot let your worry about that hinder it. If your pizza was 30 minutes late and it was supposed to be free then you shouldn't have paid.
It has happened to me, I paid half of the bill, enough to cover the gas money to my place. I then called the chain and said that I was bothered by how long it took for it to get to my place and that I was bothered by the delivery service.
I guess each person would go across it differently depending on their personality.

Hi,
I never make any order for pizza delivery. We seldom have pizza nowadays.
Last time when I was in Singapore, we did have pizza very often, but we
always dropby direct to the pizza hut restaurant to have our lunch or dinner.
It is more cosy to have it there rather than order back home eat.
Since you did encounter that late in their delivery, you may want to
make the complain direct to the branch manager and see what is their respond.
In the first place, when you make an order, does they mention to you how long you
need to wait for your pizza delivery?
Anyway,if this happened again in future, then you try order from other pizza outlet.

Before they deliver the pizza, I think they also have to know the location of your place then they will give you the exact time the pizza will arrive in your area. If the pizza place is too far from your house then they are going to ask for an allowance. If they told you its going to be there after 45 minutes, then expect that but if its still late then i think you dont have any reason to pay.
But I think it was a good thing you still payed the delivery guy. But I dont think he has to pay for the pizza when you didnt pay for it. My sister in law worked in a pizza restaurant before and if cases like that happen, all the employees during that day will pay for it not just one.

I used to work for Pizza Hut as a delivery driver for a few years part time, though it was over a decade ago. Our policy may have been different, but we had the same deal. Late deliveries should have their reason given by the driver, who'd normally say without being asked. If you want the Pizza free, whatever the reason, you must ring the shift manager at the store the driver comes from at the time of delivery. Pizza Hut are very lenient when it comes down to it, but the system does get abused a lot by customers who just want freebies. The cost of the Pizza should never come out of the driver's pay (unless he did something stupid, like eat it!). Drivers are classed as independent contractors.
