I have always been fascinated about hotels and resorts and it is my dream to own one. I would really love to have an experience on how to run a hotel. That is why I am planning to take a short course that would give me a certificate so I can get a job in a hotel and eventually who knows apply my learning to my very own hotel . Do you think this is a good idea? Anyone out there who also wants to shift to a different career? Please share your thoughts.

Yes, of course, if it is something you have been dreaming of for a long time you should definitely go for it. You have nothing to lose! I want to do something similar myself, but have not found the funding for it yet...

In my country there is actually a government training center that would provide the courses for free. You might want to check out local training centers in your area if you can undergo training for free or for a lower price. Good luck to us!

If that is really your passion then you should go for it. Who knows you might also be able to start your very own auto shop business. That would be a very good source of income.

I'd love to shift jobs into a different direction. But I always wonder if it's worth going back to school again for a few years for a job that doesn't require a degree or a job that won't be there.

That is a great idea. Hotels are great because there are so many different departments to choose from. You can work your way up and most hotels will train you. Look for front desk, housekeeping, maintenance, and hotel server jobs. Once you have the skills under your belt - you can work anywhere in the world and at any hotel. Best of luck to you.
