I have just started to watch television again after more than 2 years without it. Unlike before when I used to watch soap opera a lot, now I am more into reality shows, both local and foreign ones. I usually watch Biggest Loser, Iron Chef, America's Next Top Model and Amazing Race. I also watch So You Think You Can Dance and some talent shows. How about you? Do you also watch reality shows or do you prefer soap opera? Which ones do you watch? By the way, I also like to watch news programs and documentaries.

I don't watch all reality shows, but there are a select few I watch. There are some reality shoes that I won't watch the whole season, but just the beginning of. For example, I might just watch auditions for either So You Think You Can Dance and American Idol on Fox. I'm not even sure If I will watch American Idol at all this year, it's gown downhill...and with Simon gone, what's the point? Doesn't seem like any good judges this year. Not a fan of So You Think You Can Dance really either. Those people have talent, but not really my area of interest.
Some reality shows that I watch that I enjoy are The Amazing Race and Survivor on CBS, America's Next Top Model on the CW, and Hell's Kitchen on Fox. I will admit, all of the things on this show might not be real and may be set-up for the camera, but they are entertaining. It feels like Survivor has been on forever, and it has, it's been a decade at least. There are some seasons where this shows aren't very exciting, but I've been watching them to long to stop and the topic still interests me.

Why haven't I discovered that yet? I'm into foods big time. LOL. Sometimes, I get to watch Ace of Cakes and whatever cooking shows are on. There was even a time when I watched a Korean cooking show which was in Korean language and without any subtitles. I'd usually end up hungry.LOL

Is It similar to Iron Chef, as in Iron Chef America or The Next Iron Chef? Oy, the food network, I could talk about that one for days!
Gordon Ramsay is the host and an established chef and has many restaurants all over the world. He is a good guy outside the kitchen. When in the kitchen, the heat is on, he is breathing down your neck, and cursing up a storm. Again, it is a reality show, so that is most likely there for the entertainment value, it works. The show starts out with two teams, a red team (girls) and a blue team (boys). The show consists of dinner services in a fine dining restaurant and all sorts of challenges. I've been watching it since season 1. The next season starts next month some time, I want to say later September on Fox. Things can get pretty intense, it's not as refined as some cooking shows.
When Hell's Kitchen doesn't air, Gordon has Master Chef right now. It's on Wednesday's at the moment. This is the first season it's aired. This is a program where your everyday home cooks have the chance to become something bigger. Hell's Kitchen, the people involved are already head chefs, sous chefs, etc. They have that jumpstart. Master Chef is the chance for your average Joe to become better. When Master Chef or Hell's Kitchen isn't on the air, you have Kitchen Nightmares.
I would call Kitchen Nightmares a reality show persay. There aren't other people competing with anyone. What this show is, again one of my favorites, is Gordon visits rundwon restaurants and trys to turn them around and make them the star of the town again. Some of the things that go on in thos restaurants might make you think twice, but it's all for the better in the end.

I got to watch from the start of these like survivor and "Who wants to marry a millionaire?" remember that? That was God awful but a guilty pleasure when it came out. After that I don't follow anything much on reality shows I watch a couple on and off when I catch them but mostly I still appreciate well written and well made series more. Nice topic diutay! +!

Lol that happens to me all the time! Not on Korean Soaps though mostly just shows from the US. Getting hooked on the soaps and series though is a lot more different than reality shows don't you think? With reality shows I don't get hooked as much after a while, but on regular shows I'm hooked as long as they still produce it, you know what I mean? I remembered some good reality shows that I like though! Mythbusters and most on the Discovery Channel, and also Project Runway and the learning channel has lots too! LA Ink is the best for me.

The only soap opera I watch is General Hospital. I was a few shows and some reality if I have time. I have a DVR (thank Comcast for that!) So I watch my favorites when I have time. On my recorded list is General Hospital, Army Wives, Design Star, Covert Affairs, Royal Pains and Desperate Housewives. Some times I will record another show but those are the ones set to always record new shows. I don't have a lot of time to watch TV so its nice to be able to stop and start when I do!

I forgot about Next Design Star...That was always good. Amazing what they come up with with little to work with. That is fun to watch. But again (reference another post here) their appearance is pathetic! Why don't they dress nicer? They often look like they just crawled out of bed and put on the first thing out of the rag bag. If they were going to do my house/room, I'd take one look at them and think if they can't do any better with their own appearance, how can I expect them to do good on my room? I am not at all a outward appearace is the main thing kind of person, and I don't have the money to buy high fashion, but that isn't what is needed. Target has nice casual stuff, Kohls and JC penny and it is all reasonable. Plus being on national tv and for the reason there...it just seems to me they'd WANT to make themselves more presentable.

Will also check that out. Now I remember a certain guy (I forgot his name but his outfits are usually so outrageous)whom I read was a contestant or a winner in a fashion designing competition. When I saw his picture I was wondering how and why he won. lol

I used to watch a lot of reality shows and competitions and have been hooked up with them. They are really fun to watch and the things people do on a performance are simply mind blowing. At times even reality shows seems too good to be true. They seem scripted at certain parts. This brings down the rush in those shows. But overall I enjoy watching them for a past time.

Bogus shows. I don't believe in reality TV. Just watch the news. That's reality on TV at its finest.

Well done on not watching television for two years, I wish I had that kind of will power, as TV takes over my life a little bit.
I do watch a lot of both reality TV shows at soaps. I like to see the kind of shows where normal people can go and show their talent and then really, really make something of themselves. I believe that everyone has the potential to excell, they just need to be given the opportunity to show whatever their talent might be.

I didn't have much of a choice. Having two jobs was killing me and I actually didn't have mind then. I was too tired. There are times though when I wish I had one at that time because I kind of missed some of the news. I also like quiz shows. I have a blast giving the answers before the contestants can.

lol. I get what you mean. I did watch PBB before. It was the very first one I think. There were some episodes I think that I got to see of the latest season because my co-worker would check it out on youtube. I don't know how the local Biggest Loser will fare.

I'm not a real big fan on reality shows. Although they do provide enertainment from time to time. I don't watch a whole lot of television. When I do it would probably be comedy central or adult swim.
