Control your BP

Did you know that control of blood pressure (BP) can be achieved by non-pharmacological means? (Without resorting to drugs). First and foremost is the ability to control your weight. If you are over-weight with BMI over the recommended value, effective reduction of weight by itself can lower you BP even without drugs. The amount of sodium in food is probably the next one over which one can have control. Simply put, the more saltier the food one takes, higher the chance of having high BP. Like the count on the calories one consumes, a count on the sodium intake is vital to reduce BP. Meditation does help - if one could really meditate in the level it is intended to be! It is not easy to control one's mind. If these and measures like regular exercise and switching to food containing lot of vegetables and less of fats doesn't help - you can't help taking medicines. Have any one of you achieved the level of control of BP that is optimal by measures other than taking medicines?

Yes. There are many ways to control blood pressure by not using medicine. But most people don't know how to do it. It is really discipline and self control you need and these things are very hard to do when you face the actual temptations everyday. Others still disobey on some of these preventions for high blood pressure because they think they have an antidote for it too - their medicines. They rely on medicines nowadays and think that they are secured with this medications. The generation of having high blood pressure is getting younger these days and some teenagers doesn't even care about it too. They are still careless of their health. High blood pressure is a silent killer and 1 way to prevent it by having the right knowledge on how to control it.

You can not always control bp with out taking meds for it,as i well know. There are other health reasons to why people have a high bp and those could be high hemaglobin, chlorestrol, polycethemia, you get the idea and telling people that they do not need meds could do them serious harm if they were to listen to what you are saying.I am under 9 stone,39 years old, do not eat fatty foods,5 foot 4 tall. With other health problems,i could get a blood clot if i did not take my meds for high bp.

Celery is also supposed to lower your blood pressure. My husband has high blood pressure never had a weight problem; exercised vigorously (he used to be a runner) every day of his life and we never even kept salt in the house yet he had a blood pressure problem and suffered a stroke. They are sometimes genetic factors in place that require medication for control. In my husband's case, his Grandmother had high blood pressure and suffered a series of strokes and his Mother also had it.

I have high bp and i have had this problem for years, not because of being over weight,as i am not even 9 stone, also not through being under weight either,as i am the right size for my height aswell as age.I also have a high hemaglobin count and high white cells, also chlorestrol, veins that are having problems,so for me i have no choice to take bp tablets, not unless i want a blood clot. Also i have a circulation problem so by now if i had stopped taking bp pills then i could have got a clot and that could kill me.I do not eat fatty foods either,i have a diet that was written up by a dr from the hospital aswell, but still need to take meds.Your methods could cause harm to some people, especially if they have other problems with their health.

Another non-pharmaceutial way to control down your BP is by getting love and affection. There are researches that proved hugs and kisses can effectively lower down one's blood pressure. It's so powerful that even the most effective pharmaceuticals for hypertension can hardly match its efficacy.. Do you agree?

Biking can lower blood pressure. I used to read forums because I too has high blood pressure. A walking of 30 minutes a day can also lower your bp and check also your lifestyle most especially the food you intake.

Yes...you already mention some. Actually, i already have high blood pressure due to high cholesterol. I hate taking medicines because it damages liver and kidney. What i did is just an exercise and control my eating habit. I do boxing and gym. I don't eat dinner. Just an oatmeal, fruits, low fat biscuits, wheat bread. I think sleeping early helps also lowering blood pressure as i have notice.
